Ivy Exec recently interviewed Heidi Boyle, National Financial Services Customer Practice Leader at Ernst & Young.  Ernst & Young’s Financial Service Practice is a truly global organization with over 35,000 professionals serving clients in every region in the world.

Ivy Exec: In which area of your company do you expect the most growth over the next 12 to 18 months?

Heidi Boyle: Analytics, digital strategies and mobile solutions, and global integration.

IE: What changes and challenges do you think your company and industry will see in the next 5 years?

Heidi: We will grow our talented and diverse employee base dramatically to meet the market demand, providing many and varied opportunities for personal development and career progression.  We see the financial services industry becoming more innovative in their offerings to customers, e.g. digital capabilities; investing in strategic technologies to enable a new customer experience; operating in an increasingly regulated environment; and performing analytics to understand customer behaviors and needs and develop fact-based strategies.

IE: What attracted you to Ernst & Young?

Heidi: We have a tremendously powerful “people culture” and people at all levels are dedicated to including, developing, and engaging every one of their employees from staff to executives.

IE: What three words best describe your culture?

Heidi: Collaborative, people – centric, inclusive.

IE: What are the two best perks that employees get at your company?

Heidi: Professional Learning and Development Opportunities and flexibility.

IE: Which leadership qualities best insure success at Ernst & Young?

Heidi: A successful leader at Ernst & Young has a global outlook, is inclusive, and entrepreneurial, and is passionate about delivering high quality service to our clients.  When leading teams, they provide on the job coaching, engage team members of all levels, are assertive in expressing ideas, build relationships with key client partners, and are creative and express empathy when approaching solutions.

IE: What gets you excited about going to work each day?

Heidi: Listening to our clients to understand what they truly need, developing custom approaches and solutions, working with energized colleagues and constantly learning and developing others.

IE: If you had to compare your organization to a car, what type would it be?

Heidi: Toyota Prius Hybrid.  We utilize power from more than one fuel source, which are always engaged when the car is running (collaborative and motivated project team).  We are efficient and innovative. We are always developing (coaching and professional development opportunities).  And of course, we are beneficial to the environment by helping financial firms improve their operations.
