Targeted career social network connects proteges directly with mentors

NEW YORK, June 12, 2012 /PRNewswire/ — How do you go about finding a mentor to provide the career advice and guidance you need?  Ivy Exec, a career community and recruitment site for highly successful professionals worldwide, has launched its new Ivy Exec Mentor Network, allowing members to browse, search and meet willing mentors, all online.

This latest addition to Ivy Exec’s suite of innovative career resources has been developed specifically to match rising stars directly with seasoned executives in a targeted, purposeful way, according to Elena Bajic, Ivy Exec founder and CEO.

“It can be challenging to find a mentor, especially if you might have lost touch with your alma mater or might not have access to a large corporate executive roster in-house within your organization,” Bajic said.  “The Ivy Exec Mentor Network is the first of its kind, bringing proteges together directly with mentors for meaningful interactions online.  We conceived of the initiative as a way for Ivy Exec’s aspiring members to gain vital career advice and intelligence.”

The company has received a highly enthusiastic response from senior Ivy Exec members willing to be mentors, she said.  Ivy Exec mentors are senior level executives, including CEOs, CFOs and Managing Directors from Fortune 500 companies, Bajic said.

“Ivy Exec provides a great forum within its mentorship program, combining thoughtful participant matching with neat video chat technology. This really sets Ivy Exec apart from other sites as they create a professional community centered around building careers versus finding jobs,” said Tamatha Farrow, Senior Vice President, Head of Retail Deposit Analytics, TD Bank, a mentor on Ivy Exec.

“The Mentorship Program gives me the opportunity to share my insights and perspectives with others who are looking for personal growth and success in their careers,” said Gerhard Van Der Poel, Director, Structured Finance, ING, another Ivy Exec mentor.

Each Ivy Exec member can schedule an online mentorship session with one new mentor per month.  Proteges can target their mentor search by topic, such as compensation negotiation or interview preparation, or by industry.  Mentors and proteges meet via videoconference held on Ivy Exec’s platform.

“Our network creates a broad community of mentors.  It gives you the ability to find the right senior professional for the specific and individual career advice that you need,” Bajic said.
