25 years ago, Elaine Larsen, President of Larsen Motorsports and driver of the Florida Institute of Technology jet dragster, took what started as a hobby and grew it into a multi-million dollar business.
When you think of Motorsports, most people may just think about the time spent at the track. That’s the easy part. Back at the shop is where everything happens –from the development of the team on the business side, to defining the technical aspects of building a 290-mph jet dragster and pushing the innovation envelope.
What used to be a very risky investment — a Motorsports team — Larsen Motorsports found a way to make into a business that turns a profit, keeping both fans and business stakeholders happy and coming back for more. Building infrastructure (race teams, machinery, cars, engines) was the easy part. Building the right team and leading it was much harder.
In this webinar, Elaine Larsen will talk about what it takes to build and lead a high-performance team and business in a sport where someone’s life is on the line every second of every lap around the track.
With over 20 years of drag racing experience, Elaine Larsen has found her home behind the wheel of her jet dragsters. She met and married her high school sweetheart, Chris, and they never looked back.
Elaine is a two-time IHRA World Champion with their son Andrew and dog Nitro, Elaine lives her life at full throttle. Her motto is, What’s behind me does not matter, keep focused on the finish line! “Racing the jet dragster is only part of the fun, getting to interact with the fans at the race is definitely the highlight.” says Elaine. Growing up in a small farming community as a Mennonite, Elaine was never exposed to the racing world. Racing was totally out of character for Elaine, but once she made her first pass down the quarter-mile, she was hooked.
