Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is a form of self-regulation that businesses adopt with the goal of impacting society at large. CSR programs are a growing trend as companies wrestle with the expectations and implications of taking a stand on political and social issues. Multinational companies have earned accolades and criticism for their action or inaction on a variety of topics, and leaders must now decide if and how to bring activism into business. Ivy Exec conducted a quantitative study of 85 business leaders to determine how common CSR programs are and to assess the general perception of them. By and large, leaders are aware of and have positive sentiments toward CSR with some major caveats and concerns about authenticity, coercion, and the boundaries between the private and work spheres of life.
