Compared to other boutique consulting firms, Everest Group has a very entrepreneurial mindset and focuses on results over processes. Although we have company developed IP and framework for every function and vertical that we serve, there is also the freedom to be creative and innovative in our quest to develop the best possible solution for the client. At a personal level, consulting is always about the people you work with and Everest Group has some of the smartest and most affable people in the industry I have had the pleasure to work with.

Employee - Senior Associate/Consultant

First off, the senior leadership is extremely capable and experienced and comes mostly from the top tier of consulting firms (McKinsey, BCG, and Booz). They are also extremely collaborating and cognizant of the needs of the company and the clients we serve. Since I am working out of the Dallas office, I have access to most of the partners and APs and each of them maintain an open door policy and are willing to help and learn junior consultants and grow the power of our brand. There is a one-week orientation for every new consultant, regardless of position, when he/she joins the company, where the company tries to incorporate F2F sessions with as many Partners/APs as possible, which speak volumes about the emphasis they place on their recruiting and on-boarding.

Consultant compensation consists of salary plus bonus. For consultants, there is a bonus range for each level. The bonus is paid out, based upon the individual performance of the consultants. Partners share a percent of the firm’s profits after consulting bonuses are paid.

Employee - Senior Associate/Consultant

Everest Group does not have a formal policy around Flex Time or Telecommuting; however, on occasions when I have worked late hours or weekends, the project leadership is more than willing to allow compensatory time off. I have also worked from home on occasions and the company is flexible about that, as long as you don't abuse the trust system.

Employee - Senior Associate/Consultant

Great culture; from the open office concept that is designed to allow consultants to mingle and collaborate to the entrepreneurial mindset that is fostered and encouraged, Everest Group has a great balance of being informal while also ensuring that we are driven and motivated. Our diversity also allows for different perspectives to the same problem, which is one of our greatest strengths.

Employee - Senior Associate/Consultant

Everest Group is a boutique consulting firm and, from that perspective, not as well known as the top tier of consulting firms; however, we are often referred to as the "McKinsey of the sourcing industry", which highlights our knowledge and dominance in this space. As we continue to grow and diversify the portfolio of services we offer, we continue to have tremendous brand value and market reputation in the Global Services space.

Employee - Associate/Consultant

We are a small, congenial group where even a lowly consultant can directly impact the direction of the firm, yet we get to genuine strategy work that competes with the best of the "big boys" (MBB) without the red-tape and political games of an old and large organization. This is the primary reason I joined. In its nearly 25-year history, the firm has developed deep expertise in services that allows the much-younger strategy consulting practice to integrate industry best-practices with leading academic and strategic thinking to get real results that make a tangible difference. The second reason I joined is the exciting nature of this quickly-growing practice; I can rapidly build my career and immediately impact the future of the firm. Thirdly, the people at this firm are some of the most brilliant and yet most humble people I have ever encountered. The culture strikes a perfect balance between driving forward and investing in developing people as individuals who have lives outside of the office. I love the exposure I get to both partners and client c-suite executives, and I am confident working alongside these professionals will enhance my effectiveness over the course of my entire life.

Employee - Associate/Consultant

Everest Group leadership has some of the most respectable pedigree, expertise and experience in the world; names like Harvard, Stanford, McKinsey, BCG, Goldman, and Blackstone are commonplace. Yet, they are extraordinarily accessible. I have had every partner in the firm and the CEO reach out to me personally to ask my opinions on projects and offer guidance to help me develop as a consultant and strategist. It is common practice to start meetings by asking the most junior member present what should be done--that becomes the baseline for iteration. The style is more than collaborative, it is developmental. The small size of our firm offers significant flexibility with personal schedules and time off. Leadership respects everyone as professionals and allows us the freedom to manage our own schedules and empowers us professionally to serve clients as best as possible.

Employee - Associate/Consultant

Bonus is performance-based on a sliding scale percentage of base pay, pretty standard--but two things make this interesting. Foremost, bonus paid out to consultants are calculated before profits. This places both a logical and a literal precedent on the consulting staff before Partners can cash out; the Partners hold all the risk of a low-performance year. Secondly, the low end of the scale is never zero--even the poorest performers will still receive bonus pay.

Employee - Associate/Consultant

There is a lot of flexibility along all of these dimensions. The firm will work with people to accommodate needs.

Employee - Associate/Consultant

I believe Everest Group culture can best be described as “balanced”. There is a healthy appreciation for productivity and a significant drive to create results. As regards contribution, I feel an obligation to speak up with my opinions and feel my perspective is welcome. I am free to work independently, but I never feel orphaned without guidance. There is an understanding that we are all human and we are all in this together. I have had 14-hour days and been at the office after midnight, but the project partner was right there next to me. On the flip side, I am frequently able to take half-days to take care of errands as needed and can freely come in late or leave early as life demands. On average, I work less and am less exhausted than my friends in other big-name consulting firms. My relationship with my wife is not strained by working here, and I think it would be a great firm for a consultant to raise a family.

Employee - Associate/Consultant

We are a boutique firm and are not as well-known as I believe we ought to be. The quality of people and of work-product we produce is every bit as good as what I have seen in other well-known companies--often even better. Within the community we operate, we have a stellar reputation. I am surprised when someone recognizes the name of my firm but, without fail, every time they do recognize it they immediately gush with positive exclamations of their experience with the firm. This actually has become a bit of an obstacle to us internally; we have such strong positive reputation for our research and transactional services that the strategy consulting practice has an obstacle to create an independent brand for our innovation, growth and competitive-advantage focused services.
