Employee - Analyst

I would improve culture and work life balance

Employee - Analyst

Has a strong brand name externally

Employee - Analyst

Aggressive environment

Employee - Vice President

The multiple layers of management and red tape

Employee - Vice President

Everyone out for themselves, lack of communication

Employee - Associate

Morgan Stanley was a pleasure to work for, I just did not like the rigidity of working in financial services. Too confining.

Employee - Associate

Hard-driving, unrelenting, unforgiving work culture.

Employee - Vice President

Needs to increase focus on employee satisfaction versus just shareholder value

Employee - Vice President

Work hard and all else is flexible

Employee - Vice President

Smart group of people who work collaboratively. The culture is not focused solely on hierarchy. Communication is good.and people are wager to help and get things done.

Employee - Senior Vice President

Smart energetic people. Very entrepreneurial culture

Employee - Associate

I would change compensation structure and titles

Collaborative environment

Conservative culture

Employee - Vice President

Given the challenging environment, unfortunately significant focus on cost cutting, which is to be expected and is not unique on the Street. However, these cutbacks are also stunting growth of strategic initiatives that would otherwise put the bank into a better competitive position in the future... Short term focus unfortunately.

Employee - Vice President

Morgan Stanley is an environment that is collaborative, innovative.

Employee - Vice President

Would change the overall feeling of the industry's affect on the firm itself. Down markets = down morale. Once the layoffs & RIFs begin, all of the work is left on the heads of those that are still there, and every day you find yourself working even harder just to try & keep up, and be able to keep your job.

Employee - Vice President

The company culture was great, however, individual silos within each area tend to have their own culture, which may not align to the actual corporate culture.

Employee - Managing Director

Remove the chronysim, old-boy system of promotions and senior roles. Much better collaboration and partnership between business divisions (Fixed Income, Equities, Investment Banking/Capital Markets, Private Wealth Mgmt) and much less infighting.

Employee - Managing Director

Like most investment banks, the culture is highly competitive (kill or be killed mentality), less collaborative and soleyl focused on generating high profits.
