This position supports the account team in the development and execution of projects for clients. This would involve strategic client account, brand and relationship management, developing and recommending life cycle strategies and tactics, executing and evaluating account activities, and identifying and developing new business opportunities. Directs, assists and participates in the development of strategic plans, marketing plans, business reviews, business building programs, positioning documents and creative and business support materials. Seeks out and participates in pitch opportunities as appropriate.
Becomes intimately involved with client businesses, proactively seeking out and developing new business opportunities within current base and potential prospects. Continually evaluates client and JSAI business activity, recommending appropriate changes to meet volume/profit objectives, identifying key business opportunities & issues, as well as recommending appropriate game plans for action by core team. Emphasis is on budgets/business plans and forecasting to meet JSAI deliverables, and balancing requirements with clients’ needs. Negotiates work plans and appropriate fees with clients, and engages in broad budget discussions. Focused on out of the box thinking for customer excellence and “grip”/retention.
Develops strategic brand plans (2- 3 years+ out) with client, incorporating the total positioning, research recommendations, Direct to Customer market expansion plans, and advocacy requirements. Directs the execution of account plans and activities including communicating plan details to clients and appropriate suppliers within timelines and established budgets.
Monitors and oversees the performance of key projects and programs. Is the ultimate “go to” person on account matters, and through regular team meetings ensures that all aspects of work is completed to the highest standards. Manages processes through internal teams and provides clients and suppliers with quality recommendations and well thought out briefing documents. Ensures that billing levels are achieved and that client mandates are successfully carried out. Directs appropriate internal and external resources to address/act upon specific issues and opportunities.
Manages direct reports, sometimes across one or more account teams,including recruiting staff; defining roles and responsibilities; managing staff priorities; managing performance (establishing goals, measuring progress and providing feedback), and participating in the termination of staff, as appropriate.Leads by example and models appropriate behaviours expected of staff.
Creates and builds a culture that reinforces high levels of client service, efficiency, participation, commitment and team spirit.Provides leadership to teams by setting a professional example and demonstrating a high level of work ethic. Offers consistent coaching and mentoring of more junior staff both on own and other company teams.
Participates and takes a leadership role in the development of appropriate JSAI policies and processes, company initiatives and other infrastructure required to support the company’s growth. Seeks out opportunities to champion certain projects, which provides both an opportunity for personal development and growth but also demonstrates a commitment to the long term viability of the organization.
Graduate of a relevant post secondary degree or certificate program
Strong working knowledge of the industry gained through 8+ years in Marketing Agency or Pharmaceutical Industry

Able to negotiate successfully and sell ideas and concepts
Excellent oral, written communication and editing (punctuation, grammar, spelling), and presentation skills
