American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG), a membership organization dedicated to the advancement of women's health care in Washington, DC, is currently seeking an Accounting Manager. The Accounting Manager will manage the day-to-day accounting operations and general ledger maintenance of the National Office. This position also has management responsibility for accounting staff.


Responsibilities


Plan and oversee work of accounting staff, establishing procedures, as needed, to accomplish the timely and accurate completion of accounting needs of the corporate entity. This encompasses receivables and general ledger maintenance.

Review and modify procedures, as needed, to maintain sound internal controls; ensure system design and processes support accuracy and accountability; follow up on recommendations made by internal and external auditors for changes.

Manage annual independent audit process and serve as main liaison between Finance and audit firm.

Calculate, file, and process payment of sales tax to states.

Responsible for reconciling main operating bank account.

Coordinates with American Congress of Ob Gyns PAC. Retrieve quarterly report, prepares journal entry, post and reconcile general ledger balance.

Develop, maintain, and analyze reconciliation and budget for capital assets and depreciation

Examine general ledger accounts, collect information, perform reconciliation, and prepare adjustment

Prepare journal entry for fulfillment house (PBD) monthly financial Reconcile general ledger accounts.

Other task as assigned.


Qualifications


Bachelor's degree in Accounting or business-related discipline

8 – 10 years related experience

Knowledge of accounting principles and tax law related to not-for-profit organizations

Ability to supervise accounting personnel

Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills.

Excellent analytical and problem solving skills.
