Specific Responsibilities

The Associate Director (AD)/Director (D), HIV Franchise Marketing will be responsible for supporting the development and execution of the HIV Franchise team’s promotional efforts. 

The AD/D of HIV Franchise reports to the Senior Director, HIV Franchise Marketing.Their focus will be to deliver impact across the whole health care continuum (HIV prevention and treatment), regardless of HIV status. The AD/D will be a key contributor on the Franchise Marketing team responsible for supporting of the $13B HIV franchise including Genvoya and Biktarvy and Truvada for PrEP. The AD/D will contribute in setting the short and long-term vision for Franchise Marketing.The AD/D will be responsible for significant budget oversight and management of key agency partnerships.They will partner closely across marketing functions along with various cross functional stakeholders and external vendors to implement strategy and tactics oriented to this objective.

Essential Duties and Job Functions

Supports the development and execution of the HIV Franchise Marketing plan in support of end to end HIV leadership

Oversees the development and implementation of marketing strategies, messaging and tactics directed to a diverse set of stakeholders including, HCPs, Consumers/Patient and Community members and Advocates

Leads the build out of HIV Franchise Campaign to deliver across a range of executional opportunities and key business needs for the HIV BU

Leads and executes programs to a broad range of traditional and non-traditional channels and platforms including print, digital, social, out of home and key conference engagements

Monitors the complete HIV Landscape seeking out key insights and areas of opportunity to support ongoing leadership efforts

Cultivates relationships, manages and provides direction and leadership across key agency partners to deliver on key strategic and tactical initiatives

Collaborates closely with HIV Treatment and Prevention teams to ensure alignment on marketing direction and coordinated efforts for the success of the full HIV Business Unit

Partners with cross functional partners across the organization to identify synergies to amplify our total efforts, solve key business problems and optimize our total impact

Manage and support promotional budget for assigned efforts

Develop and deliver presentations to a range of internal stakeholders and external audiences

Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations and policies


High performing marketer with the ability to set a vision and collaborate across a diverse group of internal and external stakeholders

Strategic thinker with an innovative mindset that has a strong track record of making recommendations, while incorporating a diverse set of stakeholder input and feedback

Strong entrepreneurial thinking and confident in working within a fast paced and challenging environment

Adept at forming and maintaining a collaborative work environment within cross functional teams

Track record of successful pharma/ biotech/ community / consumer patient marketing in specialty categories

Recognized expertise in implementing a pharmaceutical brand and communications plan of action, including multiple stakeholder and media channel activation

Clear demonstrated understanding of the pharmaceutical regulatory requirements and impact on developing marketing materials

Exceptionally strong interpersonal, verbal communication, and writing skills, including the ability to simplify complex topics through storytelling 

Specific Education and Experience Requirements

7+ years of marketing or communications experience within pharma/ biotech

A minimum of 3-5 years of brand development and marketing preferred

Bachelor’s degree required, MBA in marketing or related fields preferred

Proven track record of marketing fundamentals, including brand plan development and execution, strategy and sales and commercial programs

Therapeutic Area knowledge desired, but not required
