Establish the client contracts, vendor subcontracts, vendor management, and sourcing / procurement strategies 

Leverage the existing function and internal expertise to further develop and “commercialize” the department, from gap analysis through implementation 

Compile and analyze market trends in terms of pricing and service capabilities for expenditures

Support and lead our vendor management process to help us develop and maintain strategic partnerships with third party service providers in order to leverage quality services, firm pricing, discount opportunities, and vendor capabilities

Establish a risk assessment process and oversee implementation of it for prospective contracts, including legal, business, and financial liabilities

As a crux of internal and external relationships, serve as a liaison between FHI Clinical leadership, sponsors, clients, and vendors for contracts and procurement related tasks and/or issues; Engage leadership to continually improve contracting and procurement strategies and processes

Direct day-to-day and long-term vision for department processes, resourcing, and communications

Develop and refine processes within the company and the function that lead to greater efficiencies or competitive advantages; implement oversight mechanisms (e.g., KPIs and metrics) to ensure increasingly strong performance

Mentor, coach, and develop talent; provide guidance and oversight including the management of workload, special projects, performance management, salary review, and career development

Knowledge, skills and abilities

Contract Negotiation, 

Knowledge of various Contract Types and Mechanisms (T&M, Labor Hour, Cost Plus, etc.),

Vendor Management, 

Vendor Audits,

Metrics / Key Performance Indicators, 

Service Level Agreements,

Process Improvement,

Change Management,

Familiarity with Salesforce or a similar contract management system

Familiarity with clinical services, software validation, e-clinical systems,

Adeptness for leadership and building a team, and

Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 products (word, excel, powerpoint)


Position 

Requirements


Education Bachelors’ degree required; Masters’ or Professional Degree preferred, such as MBA, J.D., or the international equivalent.

Preferred Job-related Experience 7-10 years’ experience required; at least 5 in commercial clinical research or related; 5 years’ experience in management and oversight roles
