We are actively seeking a Business Development Manager to work closely with other members of the Client Development team and individuals globally throughout different areas of the Firm.


The Business Development Manager will work under the direction of the Associate Director of Industry Business Development, and with junior support, execute on marketing and business development programs and initiatives for the firm’s industry practices, including Real Estate, Hospitality, and Technology, Media & Telecommunications ("TMT"), as well as firmwide initiatives focused on client growth and brand-building across Proskauer's core industries. The Manager will work as part of the firm’s larger Client Development department, and will support the lawyers in their industry/practice groups as needed.


Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:



  • Support the Firm's industry-focused practice groups, including Real Estate, Hospitality and TMT (including our Technology and Media & Entertainment industry brands)

  • Work closely with the Associate Director to develop a thorough understanding of the Firm’s core industry brands, including relevant client bases, market opportunities, strategic initiatives and business development support needs

  • Serve as an advisor to the lawyers and client development team on specific strategic initiatives and high value opportunities

  • Track and report intelligence on key clients and prospects and develop client action plans for developing/expanding business

  • Develop marketing campaigns around trending topics and ensure that we are quick in developing thoughtful, business-savvy and targeted content

  • Support our lawyers and work in conjunction with the New Business team and other BD team members to develop compelling new business presentations; serve as the BD lead in new business presentations, proposals and RFP responses

  • Partner with Events team to plan and manage practice events such as seminars, conferences, client events and webinars, and follow-up activities; regularly liaise with attorneys and other BD team members to successfully complete events

  • Partner with the PR team to refine and progress the industry groups’ visibility objectives and provide guidance and ideas on key hot topics and industry trends

  • Recommend client communication topics and execute distribution through various channels including client events, client alerts, webcasts, podcasts, video, etc.

  • Create industry-specific marketing collateral, lawyer biographies, practice area descriptions and other collateral to more effectively “sell” our industry groups, people and client offerings

  • Develop submissions for directories and awards, and seek and assess additional opportunities for recognition as related to the industry groups

  • Liaise with other members of the Client Development team to ensure website content reflects current highlights and trends

  • In partnership with the senior team and industry/practice leadership, execute annual marketing plans and budgets for the industry groups

  • Manage promotional activities, including evaluating and selecting advertising and sponsorship opportunities within the approved budgets

  • Manage and mentor other team members


Qualifications



  • Bachelor’s Degree required

  • 5-7 years of experience in a Professional Services environment

  • Practical experience in professional business development, marketing or communications function is required

  • Preferred knowledge of and affinity for legal market from an industry perspective, experience and/or familiarity with the Technology, Media & Entertainment, Real Estate and Hospitality industries.

  • A high degree of drive and personal initiative to raise the Firm’s profile and generate business for our transactional practices

  • Strong strategic business development skillset with knowledge of core marketing principles

  • Robust project management skills

  • Manage deadlines and prioritize multiple projects/tasks appropriately

  • Ability to maintain professional composure and confidentiality in a fast-paced, high-pressure and multi-authority environment

  • Capability to work with a team of attorneys, staff and all levels of management

  • Excellent written communication, presentation, analytic and research skills
