We are looking for a Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to join our Chattanooga, Tennessee office. Our ideal candidate should have financial and accounting oversight experience in the construction industry and/or renewable energy space, prefer both national and international.

The CFO is a key member of the Executive Management team and is responsible for the overall financial functions of EMJ, subsidiaries, and/or related companies. This position oversees internal and external accounting operations and procedures including: preparation of budgets, financial reports, forecasting, and strategic endeavors. Working with the CEO, the CFO works alongside the Executive Leadership Team to establish long range goals, strategies, plans and policies for each entity while aligning them with the overall mission, strategy, and vision of EMJ. This role is highly critical to the company, as this person will be a prominent role player and strategic thought leader in the growth of the company.

Key Responsibilities:

Accounting, General Ledger, Administration, and Operations

Monitor and develop the Accounting and Finance team, managing work allocation, systems training, performance evaluations, and the building of a cohesive, high performing team dynamic.

Represent the company to banks, sureties, financial partners, auditors, and others as necessary.

Remain current on best practices, as well as international, state, federal and local laws regarding company operations.

Financial Analysis, Budgeting, and Forecasting

Review and present monthly financial and budgeting reports, including monthly profit and loss by business unit, forecast vs. budget, and cash flow for the parent company, as well as any related companies.

Review and analyze monthly financial results and provide recommendations to business unit leadership, as well as Executive Management team.

Identify, develop and execute analysis of business initiatives and new service offerings.

Manage financial planning and analysis department, supervising creation of reports, software implementation, and tools for budgeting and forecasting.

Strategy, Planning and Management

Act as a strategic business partner to all members of the senior executive team.

Assess and evaluate the financial performance of the organization with regard to long-term financial goals, budgets, and forecasts.

Provide insight and recommendations to both short-and-long-term growth plan of EMJ.

Identify, acquire, and implement systems and software to provide critical financial and operational information. Evaluate departments and make suggestions for automating processes and increasing efficiencies.

Communicate, engage, and interact with Executive Leadership team, Advisory Board, CEO, Business Unit leadership, as well as other key stakeholders.

Create and establish yearly financial objectives that align with the company's plan for growth and expansion.

Come alongside Business Unit leadership and the CEO, analyze viability of potential acquisitions and new venture opportunities.

Select, manage, and engage appropriate outside consultants and auditors.

Participate in pivotal decisions as they relate to strategic initiatives and operational models.

Implement policies, procedures, and processes as deemed appropriate by senior leadership team.

Key Requirements:

Appropriate undergraduate degree (Accounting or Finance); MBA required

CPA highly desirable

5 years minimum experience as a CFO in a large corporation, or division, with at least 500 employees and $500 million in annual revenue

15+ years total accounting or finance experience

Multi-year experience in an A/E/C and/or renewable environment

Outstanding knowledge and understanding of GAAP and governmental compliance reporting

'Hands on' ERP Systems experience; Viewpoint preferred

Outstanding communication and presentations skills

Demonstrated leadership ability, confidence and executive presence

Excellent analytical, reasoning, and problem-solving skills; able to exercise sound judgement and make decisions based on accurate and timely analysis

Hands-on leader willing to lead, motivate, and work alongside staff at all levels (from Executive to frontline employee)

Previous experience and familiarity with the Information Technology (IT) function
