The 800+ BAE Systems, Inc. employees and sub-contractors aligned to the Air Force Solutions--Strategic Systems Directorate support the United States Air Force (USAF) Nuclear Weapons Center (AFNWC) Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM) System Directorate as it sustains the existing LGM-30 Minuteman III (MM III) weapon system and acquires its replacement, the YLGM-182A Ground-Based Strategic Deterrent (GBSD).
BAE Systems is an integral part of a government (Gov) enterprise team that ensures a safe, secure land-based leg of the nuclear triad as required by Air Force Global Strike Command through 2030 for the MMIII, and for the GBSD from its IOC at that time until 2075. The BAE Integration Support Contract (ISC) not only assists in acquisition and technical sustainment engineering for the USAF ICBM enterprise, but also helps train and develop this capability in the government for the long-term. The ISC augments organic DoD resources by providing breadth and depth of capabilities for system engineering and integration, risk management, technical assessment, acquisition program management, strategy development, organization and change management, operations and logistics interfaces, business analysis, mission effectiveness, and ICBM Demonstration/Validation programs.
GBSD is the replacement for the MM III ICBM weapon system including ground, missile, and command & control elements. This position is a key enabler for the GBSD vision to be the warfighters’, OSD, Congress, and its mission partners’ most trusted strategic system acquisition organization, helping to design, build, test, transition, and sustain the world’s safest, most secure, and effective land-based nuclear deterrent on schedule.
