As the Chief Client Development and Relationship Officer, you will lead strategy and client development services across all of Goodwin’s business units and global geographies. From traditional business development, client relationship management and direct sales to business unit connectivity and industry competitive intelligence - you will leverage your expertise in strategic planning, driving change and transformation, and enabling the success of our client teams.Working closely with the firm’s Chief Operating Officer, Chief Marketing Officer and firm-wide management, you will own the development and execution of the firm’s client vision and strategy.
What you do:
As the Chief Client Development and Relationships Officer, you think strategically.
You create an overarching client development strategy for the firm, identifying and connecting opportunities across practices and geographies
You align the firm’s client development strategy with its overall strategy
You build revenue generating strategies with partners for their global business units
You identify and implement client retention and growth strategies, which includes client feedback interviews, post-matter interviews, client forums and client visits
You partner with our top Market and Competitive Intelligence team, developing market and competitive intelligence to support strategic initiatives and tactical opportunities
As the Chief Client Development and Relationships Officer, you are laser-focused on our clients.
You seek an in-depth understanding of the firm’s global clients and their needs for legal services
You evaluate client teams and implement a collaborative client team philosophy for the firm
Collaborating with leaders of client teams, you identify and capitalize on client development opportunities
You partner with Chief Officers to understand the GO! (Global Operations) Team services differential, leveraging this in client pitches and industry conferences
As the Chief Client Development and Relationships Officer, you have an innate ability and affinity for developing business.
Partnering with attorneys and professional staff, you oversee the firm’s global business and client development process.
You conduct personal client development efforts, leveraging your existing network of legal services decision-makers in an array of client industries
You expand your existing network through LinkedIn and other social media, and live networking opportunities
As the Chief Client Development and Relationships Officer, you have a love of process and data that informs your strategy.
You are up-to-date on current technology trends and solutions
You drive innovation and improvement through evaluation of systems, processes, and procedures
Working with the firm’s Managing Director of Marketing Operations, you will establish systems that capture, analyze, report and utilize key data and information
You have a deep understanding of the firm’s financial metrics and how they relate to strategic planning
You partner with our practice managers to understand key metrics for each business units
As the Chief Client Development and Relationships Officer, you build high-performing teams, manage talent, and nurture potential.
You will oversee a team of business development professionals, organized to face the market and drive the success of our business units, across all offices and geographies
You enjoy mentoring and coaching to success, and you put the success of your team ahead of your own
Who you are:
You are a highly experienced client and business development professional.
You’ve held leadership roles for at least 15 years in the legal or professional services sector, in organizations with a global reach.
You have a keen focus on strategic planning and analysis, execution and results, combined with sharp critical thinking and consultative skills.
Working in a matrixed environment, gaining buy-in from partners and senior leaders, and driving change and transformation are part of a days’ work.
You have the intellectual capacity, business acumen and solid judgment to allow you to excel in a complex, changing and sometimes ambiguous environment.
Your management and leadership skills encourage high-performing teams. You have mentored and coached business development professionals, and managed teams in diverse locations.
Collaborating with your team and your peers is second nature to you. Your communication and interpersonal skills allow you to work effectively and diplomatically at all levels of the organization.
