Chief Cloud Architect
At Teradata, we use our customers use Vantage on AWS, Azure and Google to perform some of the largest and most complex data and analytics to optimize customer experiences and develop solutions that help them achieve their financial goals and digitally transform in the cloud. To support that mission, we are looking for an accomplished cloud technical leader with deep cloud provider platform, cloud infrastructure services, and architecture experience to guide Teradata and its’ customers as they migrate and modernize in the cloud, while acting as a public representative in speaking, blogging, and evangelizing cloud first.
This accomplished leader will have responsibility to define and deploy a cloud-first data architecture model that customers and partners adopt using Vantage, help build and curate cloud technical assets our field, partners and customers use, and support the efforts working with the global cloud providers in creating programs to educate and train their field technical staff and service team leaders.As Chief Cloud Architect, you will be the primary interface between Teradata and AWS, Azure and Google Cloud technical leaders, while helping our Cloud Alliance and GTM teams ensure solutions and use cases are properly tested and vetted.
You will lead, hire, and direct a global team of Solution Engineers and Architects across geographies and countries to drive using Vantage as the next generation Cloud-based data platform that is optimized for cost and performance, while providing elastic compute and storage to process, store, transfer, and protect data. In this role, you will understand the business needs, and constraints in the current cloud provider environment, and work with the GM of Cloud, CFO, and EVP Product (Product) to ensure the monies we spend using cloud provider services are optimized for scale and growth. Creating scalable, resilient, Cloud-based architecture, standard methodologies and guidelines for our data ecosystem of partners and our Partner teams. You will collaborate with all teams across the company and provide mentorship in implementing the Cloud data environment to best meet customer needs and to scale Vantage for use globally.
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a technology related field (e.g., Engineering, Computer Science, etc.) required.
Demonstrated technology and personal leadership experience in architecting, crafting and successfully building highly scalable data solutions.
Cloud data services such as AWS RDS, AWS DynamoDB, Azure SQL, and Azure Cosmos DB, Redshift, etc.
Cloud storage services such as AWS S3 and Azure Storage Services.
Cloud compute services such as AWS EC2, AWS EMR, and Azure Virtual Machines.
Proven experience in relational (Oracle and PostgreSQL are desirable), NoSQL, and data warehouse technologies and in-memory databases.
Experience building scalable, performant data solutions (e.g., OLTP, master data management, and data warehouse) on-premises, in the public cloud (e.g., AWS), and hybrid cloud.
Expert ability to evaluate, prototype and recommend emerging Cloud data technologies and platforms from open source or vendors.
Enterprise scale expertise in data management standard methodologies such as data integration, data security, data warehousing, data analytics, metadata management and data quality.
Extensive knowledge with architecting modern data integration frameworks, highly scalable distributed systems using open source and emerging data architecture designs and patterns.
Expert capability to analyze cost and performance in a data solution or pattern and recommend improvement for optimization.
10+ years of data solution architecture, design and development delivery experience. 4+ years of Cloud architecture and solutions.
Relevant certification in public cloud services (e.g., AWS Certified Database – Specialty and AWS Certified Data Analytics – Specialty) is highly desirable.
Solid experience in Agile methodologies.
Leadership skills to architect and design data infrastructure capabilities in the cloud.
Ability to collaborate and partner with business domain leads, data scientists, product owners, Enterprise architects and other functional leads to deliver world class data solutions.
Expertise in Cloud data services ecosystem such as OLTP, ODS, streaming products, Data Lake, sophisticated analytics technologies, BI reporting and analytics.
Solid skills to encourage confidence, build executive presentations and guide strategic discussions with senior management.
Ability to understand and adapt to changing business priorities and technology advancements.
Willingness to partner effectively with partners across the company.
Value You Deliver:
Provide thought leadership for data architecture in the journey to the cloud.
Identify multiple options of architecting data solutions (e.g., OLTP and ODS) in the public or hybrid cloud. Compare them against a set of criteria (such as resiliency, performance and cost) and provide clear recommendations.
Develop Reference Architecture and roadmaps to build highly available, scalable, resilient and performant data platforms to process high volume, high velocity and wide variety of structured and unstructured data.
Work with Business Units in embracing the Enterprise cloud data architecture and strategy.
Collaborate with key partners to prototype and recommend accurate Cloud data solutions in embracing new technologies.
Provide technical expertise as requested by Business Units and members of the ELT.
