Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) will be responsible for revenue growth within the organization, including strategic and in-line marketing, market access (pricing, reimbursement, and managed care), sales and commercial operations. The CCO will be an experienced and dynamic commercial leader who will thrive within a growing, collaborative, entrepreneurial biopharma company.


The CCO will drive revenue generation for the company’s approved product ZILRETTA, implement a successful commercialization strategy for pipeline products, and contribute to business development activities by providing the commercial assessment of proposed in-licensing opportunities. The CCO will serve as a key member of the Executive Committee and other internal leadership groups and serve as a critical liaison to external stakeholders.


Key responsibilities are to:


Participate as an active member of the executive leadership team to shape all aspects of commercial and business strategy, and commercial planning and operations for Flexion.

Develop and deliver an integrated commercial plan and vision for the company, positioning Flexion as an innovation-driven leader in the musculoskeletal treatment space.

Drive revenue growth for ZILRETTA, while establishing an effective and responsible infrastructure growth process.

Develop and execute the commercial strategy including launch plans for all new indications and pipeline products as well as market access and reimbursement strategies.

Lead, grow, and mentor a high-performing commercial organization including sales, marketing, market access, pricing and reimbursement, commercial operations and market development.

Partner with Corporate Strategy and R&D leadership on licensing and due diligence activities and commercial integration.

Develop a deep understanding of all stakeholders (regional partners, payors, group purchasing organizations, pharmacies, physicians, patients and their families) promoting positive interactions that foster Flexion’s corporate and commercial goals.

Develop key external relationships, including KOLs, investors, and potential and existing partners.


Candidate Profile


The Chief Commercial Officer will be a well-respected commercial executive from the biopharmaceutical industry with a significant track record of success in commercial leadership roles.


S/he will bring expertise in sales and marketing of relevant therapeutics (musculoskeletal, specialty medicines, etc.), top-of-class product launches, strategic planning, marketing, commercial policies and practices, market development and new product planning, portfolio management and lifecycle management. S/he will have significant experience and acumen in pricing, market access, and reimbursement.


The successful candidate will have successfully led integrated commercial organizations and have demonstrated the ability to attract, retain and develop top tier talent, both in existing and new indication areas. Deep knowledge and experience in the US market is required. Global/international experience is also highly desirable.


The ideal candidate will have demonstrated superior leadership capabilities, aligning teams and partnering productively with peer functions (R&D, Strategy, Finance, etc.) with an established vision and rigor that inspires action and execution of strategy. S/he will also bring sophisticated, executive-level communication skills to play a key market-facing role alongside the CEO.
