The Chief Commercial Officer is the key leadership position, reporting to the President of Volk Optical for all aspects of sales, sales operations, new business development and global service and support. The purpose of this role is to lead and develop strategies for global sales, sales operations, business development and global service and support to meet both the short and the long-term strategic objectives. The Chief Commercial Officer is expected to work closely with the President, and other members of the board, to develop and improve the core strength and capabilities of the group while helping and driving the transformation that supports Volk’s strategic imperative to insert here. This may include development of new business models, teams, product offerings and new economic and sales models that seek to enhance customer relationships and drive future growth and transformation. The Chief Commercial Officer will also provide leadership across the company and with other Halma partners to become stronger in applications of digital health technology, artificial intelligence aided diagnostics and provision of software and digital communications in the eye health arena.

The role requires a very high level of team, people and business development skills as the position involves direct reports from 6 within and globally focused sales, business development and/or distributor management organization.

Key responsibilities:

Sales Leadership

Build, lead, motivate and develop a best in class global sales team to execute sales strategies and deliver on agreed growth and profit margins

Develop, plan and oversee the execution of the company’s sales strategy across key market segments to ensure growth

Ensure forecasting and sales pipe line management systems and processes are aligned with business strategy and designed to drive desired outcomes

Plan and implement sales customer/distributor evaluation and retention goals and drive effective execution of those plans

Deliver sales productivity gains by developing and driving operations efficiencies and process improvements while maintaining or exceeding Customer experience goals and key performance objectives

Sales Operations

Build a best in class sales operations function that can effectively source, manage and translate data into actionable business insights

Ensure business plans and efforts support successful sales execution using sound analysis, quota setting, forecasting and business development practices

Develop, implement and track team quotas and KPI’s with an emphasis on sales growth, customer enablement/education and evangelizing the Volk brand

Provide recommendations for commission plan structures and changes and ensure commissions are calculated accurately

Business Development

Collaborate with various cross functional teams to develop, plan and execute enterprise-wide business development strategies

Source and manage business development opportunities that are consistent with the company’s strategy for revenue growth and long-term partnership

Recommend and support acquisitions and strategic partnerships opportunities.

Global Service and Support

Establish and develop a Voice of the Customer culture with the common goal of improving the end to end Customer experience

Drive quality and consistency through creation and maintenance of customer and internal knowledge bases

Continually develop customer support process improvements and implement/embed successful change projects.

Educational/Experience Requirements:

Bachelor’s Degree, MBA or higher degrees would be an advantage.

10+ years of progressive sales experience.

5+ Experience in a senior sales and business development leadership position

Experience in strategic planning and experience of close collaboration with distributors or OEM customers for business development.

Proven success and track record as an individual contributor and manager who has delivered on top line results
