Northern Trust is seeking a digital transformation partner to join our Wealth Management Digital Transformation Team. The Chief Digital Officer for Wealth Management will bring extensive experience in the digital space, a combination of focus and agility, and the ability to drive teams, processes, and technology change in a dynamic and complex environment. The Chief Digital Officer for Wealth Management is ultimately responsible for the digital transformation, including build out of the digital capabilities and the full portfolio of digital change work. This position leads the work to develop the operating model and a successful implementation and transition to ensure that the Digital Services function is positioned to adapt to a rapidly changing and complex environment. This position requires great leadership skills, a belief in a non-hierarchical culture of collaboration, transparency, safety, and trust. Individual in this role must work with a focus on value creation, growth and serving customers with full ownership and accountability. Will set strategic direction on behalf of the company or business unit with a company-wide perspective, will lead a significant area of the company, such as a business line, function or region and will have primary accountability for the financial performance of a function that consists of multiple diverse areas/departments, or region. Sits on a business unit/corporate group leadership team and develops and executes strategic plans for own area and shapes the company strategy. This position ha significant impact on organizational or business performance.
Leads/manages the execution of and oversee the transition and implementation of the digital transformation / change efforts
Partners with business leadership and IT to develop a high performing organization (Digital Factory) that continuously and sustainably, delivers value to its customers Use data analysis to understand the digital portfolio, measure impact and make informed decisions on product vision, strategy, and roadmap
Builds key stakeholder relationships both within the company and externally to make sure the right things get priority and manage expectations
Manages the Digital Services budget
Partners with the business leadership and other senior stakeholders to cultivate a culture of collaboration, trust and continuous improvement where people can thrive
Communicates with various stakeholders to ensure alignment of goals and secure the overall success of the program
Ensures value-add of the program and adherence to time constraints to meet critical business needs
Assumes ownership for the whole Operating Model
Aligns the operating model (methods and processes) to create a successful organizational change and performance over time
Assures that the Operating Model is enabling effective and customer centric tech development
Analyze how people, teams, or whole parts of the organization, can be optimized to achieve results
Direct the development of new or innovative solutions that optimize organizational and business performance
Have a visionary and execution driven mindset
Excellent oral and written communication skills, presentation skills and facilitation skills; ability to explain digital concepts and technologies to business leaders, as well as business concepts to technologists
Form alliances and bring together multiple stakeholders, both internal and external to execute on a common mission
Know how to attract and keep top talent from inside and outside of the organization
Drive large scale digital transformation programs, including prioritization and planning, clarification of ownership, pro-active risk management etc.
Understand core business processes and associated technical solutions
Have a business and customer oriented mindset and is able to solve complex problems
Challenge the status quo and find new solutions and drive out of the box ideas Identify interdependencies within a dynamic product landscape and complex organization and create awareness & common understanding around it
Effectively lead people and teams (including of senior leaders and experts) Assure talent assignments within Digital Services that foster the company priorities as well as the individual development objectives, including empowering others to fail, learn, and grow “Roll up the sleeves” and seek to go outside comfort zone to learn – models leadership by ‘roaming the halls’; regular occurrence to be found in the team space
Become a trusted advisor sought out frequently by business leaders and stakeholders for guidance and council
Requires an in-depth knowledge of multiple organization functions’ contributions to achieving business objectives and applies in-depth knowledge of the economic, commercial and political issues that impact company and industry performance; anticipates industry trends
Requires a broad and comprehensive understanding of theories and practices in multiple disciplines or a fast-changing discipline Influences a wide range of audiences and establishes collaborative relationships within the company or with external organizations
Presents and defends complicated or delicate issues that have an important impact on business success
A minimum of 15 years work experience with at least 8 years of experience in digital strategy
Proven track record of leading a successful digital transformation organization; Leading agile program at a large institution
Advanced degree in business, technology or engineering Certifications in technology, data and analytics
Previous responsibility forfull leadership responsibility for a major segment of the organization (business unit/corporate group or geography) and oversees managers performing diverse activities
