This position is for the B-2 Stealth Bomber Chief Engineer and reports to the VP of Palmdale-Oklahoma City Engineering and is assigned to the VP Program Manager of the B-2 Program.The position requires state of the art expertise in avionic architecture, model based systems engineering, agile software development, and familiarization with survivability technologies as applied to aircraft.The B-2 Chief Engineer is expected to control the technical baseline of the B-2 platform in various stages of program lifecycle: development, testing, and fielding of new capabilities; sustainment of the existing fleet; and depot level maintenance.Control of the technical baseline requires chairing Technical Review Boards, many times in partnership with the USAF B-2 System Program Office Chief Engineer.In order to do this successfully, familiarization with B-2 missions is a plus.As the Chief Engineer at the Prime Contractor level, the successful candidate is expected to be the primary technical advocate and liaison with the Leading Manufacturing / Operations Company Program Office, the USAF System Program Office, USAF Global Strike Command, and USAF Sustainment Center.The successful candidate is expected to have significant experience with overall systems engineering technical direction and leadership.Candidate needs to have been proven to work well with a team and possess excellent written and oral communication skills.Experience in proposal work, independent technical reviews, program standup and audits is a plus.
Final location could be based in either Oklahoma City or Palmdale.
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Math, or Physics.Significant experience in systems integration, mission systems design and architecture, avionics supplier management preferably on a Prime Contractor program.Proven timely technical decisiveness and people leadership experience in a development program with significant systems engineering content.People leadership skills include effective listening, persuasion, mentoring, coaching, and an ability to sponsor talent.Experience in leadership and communication at the executive level and across a Senior Executive Service level USAF counterpart is required.A DoD Top Secret clearance with the ability to obtain a Special Access Clearances is required.
Preferred candidates will have experience in the following: avionics LRU development or avionics subsystem architecture development, systems requirements management, personnel leadership, software development, earned value management or equivalent management via metrics, proven record of leading teams to complete a deliverable with cost, schedule, and quality constraints and requirements, supplier management, issue/risk/opportunity management and briefing VP and Director level executives.Experience in nuclear certification is a plus.Experience in lab and/or flight testing is a plus.Master’s Degree in STEM field is a plus.SSBI also a plus.
