DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Leads development and delivery of strategic technologies solutions.
Interfaces with customers and technical leads to define ConOps.
Leads the development of system architecture.
Manages and executes Risk Management Plan.
Provides technical leadership and resolves technical conflicts to ensure system performance.
Support the development of test plans and manage the integration, verification, validation process to ensure technical performance.
Troubleshoot conflicting design/development requirements, difficult coordination requirements, and special material requirements.
Responsible for the technical execution of R&D engineering projects.
Negotiate with team members to generate ideas and clarify specifications.
Keeps comprehensive notes/records, provides formal documentation following established processes and makes technical presentations, as required.
Provide support for proposals, and interface with customers.
Provide technical leadership on product design, development and improvement projects in concert with Program Management.
Present engineering work products in periodic reviews to senior staff and customers.
Ensures compliance, reporting, and safety standards are maintained.
Performs other duties as assigned or required.

Typically requires a bachelors degree, masters degree or PhD in engineering or a related technical discipline from an accredited institution and progressive engineering experience as follows; twelve or more years of experience with a bachelors degree, ten or more years of experience with a masters degree, or seven or more years with a PhD. May substitute equivalent engineering experience in lieu of education.
Demonstrates an extensive technical expertise and application of engineering principles, concepts, theory, and practice with the ability to organize, plan, schedule, conduct, and coordinate technical direction and workloads to meet established deadlines or milestones.
Prior Maritime experience in the some or all of the following areas is highly desired:
Submarine/UUV hydrostatic design considerations
Tanks and structures
Hull, mechanical and electrical design/engineering
Design for shock and vibration
Knowledge of materials and material challenges in seawater applications (stress corrosion, crevice corrosion, galvanic corrosion, cathodic protection, impressed current protection, etc)
Systems design, optimization and integration
Stealth (acoustic and non-acoustic)
Sound damping and isolation technology applications
Knowledge of SUBSAFE, Level1 and Re-Entry controls
Ability to obtain and maintain a Security Clearance is required.
Must have experience in leading the technical direction and communicating technical information to peers and to customers.
Have a desire to work in a fast-paced testing environment.
Must be able to work extended hours and travel as needed.
Good computer skills (e.g., Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint), communication skills (verbal and written), and interpersonal skills are required.
Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills are required enabling an effective interface with customers and other departments and/or professionals; capable of representing the organization as a prime technical contact, as well as providing leadership and guidance to less experienced professionals.
