Success in year one for AVG’s CFO will be achieved through the development and leadership of a high-functioning finance organization, well organized and aligned to support both the day to day requirements of AVG’s growing business as well as long term organizational objectives. 

Effective financial strategy developed and implemented in collaboration with AVG’s CEO, Executive Team, and Board of Directors

Leadership presence, providing consistently strong direction and support for individual and team development ensuring that finance team members are engaged, high-performing employees

Exceptional financial processes, controls and reporting systems and practices are established for financial reporting, fund administration, and tax

Impactful relationships established with AVG’s Executive Team and Board of Directors as well as other key departments such as OOI, Community Development, HR, Engineering, and Communications

Exceptional compliance processes implemented to deliver regulatory adherence, compliance and best practices, including reporting, filing. and communications relative to finance and business needs

Contribute to the development of a culture of continuous improvement and alignment with AVG’s North Stars

RESPONSIBILITIES

Manage and oversee all financial and tax reporting, filing and administration

Manage balance sheet and cap table relative to fundraising, distributions, buybacks, etc.

Develop, execute, and report on financial processes that align well with AVG’s business planning

Document, ensure compliance with and continually improve key processes

Oversee finance team staff management, feedback, and development

Evaluate, manage, and report on yearly financial objectives that align with the company’s goals

Prepare and present monthly financial budgeting reports, including monthly profit and loss by division, forecast vs. budget by division, weekly cash flow by division, and annual and three-year corporate budget.

Serve as a key point of contact for external auditors, ensure the preparation of related materials and support of all external audits

Maintain AVG’s banking relationships and strategic alliances with vendors and business partners, including insurance carriers

Manage and work with AVG’s senior compliance officer and both inside and outside legal counsel in all areas, including regulatory compliance and broker-dealer relationships

Remain current on audit best practices as well as state, federal, and local laws and regulatory body rules and tax laws regarding company operations

Oversee Fund Accounting’s execution of and overall adherence to AVG’s policy on delivery of K-1s, investor statements, and other investor-centric financials

Supervise the preparation and timely filing of all local, state, and federal tax returns and regulatory filings

Present financials and analysis to our Company, its stakeholders, external parties, and our Board of Directors

Execute on all distributions, stock buybacks, investor inquiries, valuations, M&A, and strategic investments and relationships

Manage all corporate and fund-based liabilities, as well as all financial obligations

Contribute towards continuous improvement in AVG’s security practices, relative to data, funds, and other assets & policies.

Managing financial input & record-keeping for all leases & contracts

Work with IT/Engineering team and Communications team on updating investor portal and other investor communications

Serve as a leader and role model to all AVG employees and other stakeholders, making impactful and positive contributions to company culture

EXPERIENCE

8-10 years in an executive or leadership capacity as the head of Finance Organization

At least 2 material, professional experiences in a fast-paced, intense, dynamic environment

4+ years of experience as a finance leader for a startup or growing company, refining or developing financial practices in a fast-paced environment

Meaningful experience in or exposure to venture capital or private equity sufficient to inform leadership on best practice and to develop and direct fund accounting strategy

Expertise in managing internal corporate finance functions including cap table management, distributions, buybacks, and corporate fundraising

Exercising in managing professional compliance staff in a financial services environment.

Experience with real estate and or construction contracts for a growing organization with remote offices is preferred

MBA highly preferred

Significant experience working with a variety of stakeholders external to the business including outside counsel and directly with the SEC and/or other regulatory bodies

Demonstrated success building and managing financial practices and programs to ensure compliance, minimize risk, optimize and support business objectives and communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders

Successful experience building and leading teams in a high-growth environment, including specific experience developing and supporting the growth of management-level employees

Experience managing the cap table, equity-based incentives and relationships with owners, including structuring, record-keeping, valuation and relevant communications, for a private company
