The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) directs and oversees the financial operations of Vibrant to support the strategic direction of the organization. Incumbent will lead the preparation of financial reports, summaries, and analyses that support organizational planning and operations as well as federal, state, and local compliance. As the financial liaison to the Board of Directors, the incumbent provides staff support to the Board of Directors on all financial matters through the Finance and Audit Committees. The CFO is engaged cross-functionally to ensure that other process-related activities support organizational financial integrity. The CFO will be a key member of the executive leadership team and will report to the Chief Executive Officer.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

Manage and oversee total financial operations including general accounting, out-patient billing, accounts payable, accounts receivable, contract billings, payroll, cash flow management, and banking relationships.

Accurate and timely preparation and dissemination of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, annual and periodic programmatic budgets and audits, financial reports to federal and non-federal funding sources.

Effectively communicate and present the critical financial matters to the Board of Directors; liaison to Board Finance and Audit Committees.

Interact with Senior Management Staff in all divisions regarding financial matters.

Key member of Executive Team that plans, develops, and implements strategic growth plan resulting in future organizational expansion.

Oversee and lead annual budgeting and planning process in conjunction with the Chief Executive Officer and Chief Operating Officer; administer and review all financial plans and budgets; monitor progress and changes; and keep senior leadership team abreast of the organization's financial status.

Engage in effective revenue cycle management, including the transition to value-based payments, including a focus on cost accounting and cost management, understanding population-based payment mechanisms, unit costing, and KPI development.

Maintain a robust contracts management and financial management reporting system; ensure that the contract billing and collection schedule is adhered to and that financial data and cash flow are steady and support operational requirements.

Develop and utilize predictive models and financial analyses to inform and forecast the organization’s operations and business plans.

Maintain appropriate internal controls and financial procedures; ensure that financial record-keeping and reporting is executed in conformity with all applicable federal and state laws and regulations, and generally accepted accounting principles.

Coordinate and lead the annual audit process, liaise with external auditors; remain up to date on nonprofit audit best practices and state and federal law regarding nonprofit operations.

Prepare, oversee, and manage audits by investigating agencies and outside CPA firms reviewing the organization’s records.

Oversee the finance department to ensure proper maintenance of all accounting systems and functions; evaluate the support structure and plan for continual improvement of internal processes; supervise, evaluate, and develop finance staff.

Update and implement all necessary business policies and accounting practices; continuous improvement of the finance department's overall policy and procedure manual.

Desired Experience, Skills, and Traits:

Bachelor’s degree in accounting; CPA certification is preferred.

Minimum of 10 years of experience in all aspects of not-for-profit accounting management.

Extensive knowledge of accounting principles, finance, budgeting, and planning for a not-for-profit organization.

Grants management experience and ability to ensure compliance with fiscal reporting requirements –including Uniform Guidance.

Successful experience working with a Board of Directors/Trustees or other governing body.

Supervisory experience and ability to maintain confidentiality, exercise sound judgment and create a team environment in conducting supervisory and management activities.

High-level of personal initiative; hands-on and willing to get into the details.
