NDWA, Care in Action, and NDWA Labs are looking for an experienced Chief Financial Officer(CFO) to lead the organization in financial management, future & scenario planning and strategic direction on finance matters as a member of NDWA’s senior leadership teams. Reporting to the Executive Director, the CFO will be responsible for ensuring that all 3 entities operate within compliance at all times, defining and executing on the organizations' financial priorities, and manage, along with its leadership teams, organizational risks with a proactive and solutions-oriented approach. A successful candidate will deeply understand the relationship between strategic goals and financial sustainability while operating with shared values for organizations fully committed to delivering for its constituents.


·Participate and represent financial matters in senior leadership teams that include the Strategy Team, which designs and aligns overall strategy, the Management Team, responsible for compliant and integrated operations, and the Executive Team, made up of the Executive Director and NDWA’s Co-Deputy Directors.

·Oversee the organization’s financial planning process including: budgeting, cash flow, grant expenditures​ within and across the c3, c4 and LLC.

·Ensure the financial health and sustainability of the organization, including maintaining a clear sense of our financial position.

·Lead the Finance Team, made up of a Senior Director, Controller and Accountants, and work closely with the Development Team to ensure accurate and real-time accounting between income and expenses.

·Manage multi-year financial planning and scenario planning to ensure continued growth and sustainability, as well as identifying and mitigating future risks.

·Oversees cash flow planning and ensure availability of funds as needed for c3, c4, and LLC and from various revenue sources such as institutional, major donor, dues payment, and merchandise.

·Implement and communicate financial process improvements, policies and procedures throughout the organization to ensure compliance and accuracy as well as sustaining our external impact.

·Liaise with the board and serve as the point of contact for the audit and finance committee; effectively communicate and present critical organizational financial matters with the Board of Directors and maintain continuous lines of communication with senior leadership.

·Ensure financial viability, compliance and fraud protection for the newly formed $20m Coronavirus Care Fund which provides cash assistance directly to domestic workers.

·Oversee NDWA’s investment portfolio and act as liaison with investment brokers, ensuring accurate recording of all gains and losses, and investment expenses

·Present monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements to leadership and board members.


·At least 7-10 years p​roven track record of success in a senior management role in an organization with a budget of $20 million or more.

·Advanced degree in business or finance; CPA preferred, but not required.

·Prior experience working with a c3 and c4 and additional experience working with corporate models (LLC), a plus.

·Agreement and alignment with NDWA’s vision and values and an understanding of issues facing low-wage workers, immigrant communities, and other communities of color.

·Strong judgment and the ability to provide guidance that balances a strong mission-focus with appropriate risk management.

·Strong Excel, mathematical, analytical and problem-solving skills.

·Strong mentoring and coaching experience to a team, staff, and board with varying levels of financial knowledge.

·A team leader who can positively and productively impact both strategic and tactical operations initiatives.

·Ability to take initiative, assess priorities, handle multiple assignments, and meet deadlines.

·Experience working with and supporting a remote staff a plus.

·Bilingual English/Spanish a plus.
