The CFO will be a seasoned and mature leader with at least ten years of broad finance experience gathering and evaluating financial information and making actionable recommendations to senior leadership. She or he will ideally have experience managing finance (accounting, budgeting, control, and reporting) for a nonprofit with multiple funding sources, multi-state reporting requirements, a dispersed geographic structure, and diverse programming efforts.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
·Manage financial systems, processes, and financial policies that support organization’s mission, ensuring proper financial reporting, and financial information flow and management.
·Responsible for overall financial processing, management, planning, systems and control, including budget preparation and management of organizational budgets.
·Direct all financial responsibilities, supervising a current team of 2 local team members.
·Assist and coordinate with multiple State Directors in the preparation of individual program budgets.
·Work with outside auditors and lawyers to ensure proper reporting to regulatory agencies.
·Play a significant role in the long-term Financial Planning &Analysis of organization.
·Manage procurement processes and act as liaison with vendors, including oversight of consultant contracts.
·Act as a member of the senior leadership of the organization and participate and support strategic planning.
·Provide guidance, support and financial information for fundraising activities.
·Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance, CPA and/or MBA preferred, but not required.
Experience in a senior financial-management role, partnering with executive staff, resulting in the
development and implementation of creative financial management strategies.
Significant experience in or knowledge of nonprofit accounting, including sophisticated fund and grant accounting, compliance, and reporting.
Deep knowledge and understanding of the Office of Management and Budget Circular A133 audit.
Experience working with information technology staff to manage finance and Quickbooks accounting software package
·Strong forecasting and budget development/oversight experience.
·Bilingual (Spanish/English) is required.
·Must reside in Phoenix area or be willing to relocate.
At least 8+ years of experience directing, and mentoring staff required.
·Proven record of success in setting and achieving goals in supervisory or director role (at least 6 years)
·Excellent organization and communication (written and oral) skills in both English and Spanish, as well as cultural competence and the ability to communicate effectively with people representing diverse interests, styles and backgrounds.
·Knowledge and experience in organizational effectiveness and operations management implementing best practices.
·Commitment to the mission of Mi Familia Vota and Mi Familia Vota Education Fund.
·Understanding and experience with non-profit finances and fundraising.
·Demonstrated leadership and vision in managing staff and major projects or initiatives.
