The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is NatureBridge's financial leader, strategist, architect and executor. The CFO serves as a key member of the organization with responsibility for advising the CEO, leadership team and Board of Directors. This positions holds primary oversight and management related to finance and accounting, information technology and human resources. In partnership with other organizational leaders, the CFO defines and implements strategies, policies and practices that improve the organization’s ability to achieve its mission while fostering cross-functional links among headquarters, campuses and departments. The CFO reports to the President and CEO and is based out of the NatureBridge national office in San Francisco, CA.
Major Areas of Responsibility
Provide strategic financial input and leadership on decisions affecting the organization.
Function as an organizational leader and highly collaborative member of the Senior Leadership Team (SLT).
Participate in the development of NatureBridge's plans and programs as a strategic partner.
Evaluate and advise on the impact of long-range planning, introduction of new programs/strategies and regulatory action.
Plan, develop, organize, implement, direct and evaluate the organization's fiscal function and performance.
Develop credibility for the finance group by providing timely and accurate analysis of budgets, financial reports and financial trends in order to assist the CEO, the board and other senior leaders in performing their responsibilities.
Enhance, develop, implement and enforce policies and procedures of the organization by way of systems that will improve the overall operation and effectiveness of NatureBridge.
Act as financial advisor on any contracts into which NatureBridge may enter.
Planning and Staff Management
Supervise the Controller, who manages and oversees a comprehensive and effective system of internal controls and accounting processes.
Supervise the Director of Finance and Technology, who develops and utilizes forward-looking, predictive models and activity-based financial analyses to provide insight into the organization's operations and business plans, and partner to provide strategic direction for using information technology and services to increase organizational performance.
Supervise the the Director of Human Resources, who ensures that strategies for compliance, compensation, benefits administration and human capital are effectively implemented.
Continually improve the budgeting process through education of department managers on financial issues impacting department budgets.
Evaluate the finance division structure and team plan for continual improvement of the efficiency and effectiveness of the group, as well as provide individuals with professional growth.
Provide technical financial advice and knowledge to others within the financial discipline.

Ability to exemplify NatureBridge's core values, including passion for nature, collaborative leadership and accountability for donors and other external stakeholders.
Maturity in a national, multi-million dollar, non-profit setting; including sophisticated fund and grant accounting, combined earned/contributed revenue models, compliance, reporting and contract review.
10 to 15 years of related experience and/or training or degree equivalent to CPA and/or MBA.
Ability to rapidly develop a deep understanding of the drivers of NatureBridge’s financial performance and lead financial management strategies that align with organizational goals, inspiring all stakeholders (CEO, Boards, staff, donors, etc.) to take action in pursuit of these goals.
Ability to act strategically while simultaneously acting as a hands-on manager.
Experience working with senior-level stakeholders and public agencies to secure and manage shared commitments.
Demonstrated expertise in supporting managers and cross organizational teams to achieve goals.
Skill in communication with a demonstrated ability to represent NatureBridge to a wide variety of individuals, both internally and externally.
Experience in oversight of successful IT and HR systems.
Skill in establishing respect and trust in an organization that values equity, inclusion and diversity.
