We are looking for a Chief Financial Officer to lead Porch’s financial management, capital funding and contribute to the development of the company’s strategic goals. As an integral member of our executive team, s/he will strengthen the processes and infrastructure needed for an IPO and the substantial growth and evolution of our business over the next five to 10 years.
The ideal CFO candidate will add judgment and insight to our operational metrics, prioritize investments for impact, lead relationships with current and prospective investors and continue to develop members of our finance and legal teams. What You Will Do
Help build Porch into a long-term truly great company that helps make the home simple for everyone.
Prepare Porch for public company-level reporting, forecasting, and process to ensure the business can operate effectively as a public company by the first half of 2021.
Lead financing efforts for the company, whether through public or private markets. This includes helping to craft the story and report on the key related metrics.
Represent the organization externally, as necessary, particularly with investors, analysts, and banking relationships.
Responsible for working across the business with senior management peers to achieve the company’s financial objectives.
Advise senior management peers on financial planning, investment allocation, budgeting, forecasting, cash flow and other strategic financial matters.
Serve as the management liaison to the board and audit committee; effectively communicate and present critical financial matters at board of directors and committee meetings.
Contribute to the development of Porch’s strategic goals and objectives as well as the overall management of the organization.
Oversee, direct, and organize the work of finance, accounting, legal, facilities, analytics, and administrative functions.
Ensure we have the right team in place that can operate a complex, fast-moving, always-changing company while complying with strong forecasting and accounting standards such that Porch can operate effectively as a public company.
Promote a culture of high performance and continuous improvement that values learning and a commitment to quality.
Ensure staff members receive timely and appropriate training and development.
Mentor and develop staff using a supportive and collaborative approach: assign accountabilities; set objectives; establish priorities; and monitor and evaluate results.
Upgrade and implement an appropriate system of policies, internal controls, accounting standards, and procedures.
Plan, coordinate, and execute the annual and long-term budget processes, monthly forecasting process, and monthly and quarterly close process. Reduce the time to close the books each month to ~5 days and the annual audit from many months to <3 months.
Ensure that Porch is adhering to the strategic plan, delivering status reports to the board.
Provide analytical support to Porch’s management team including development of internal management reporting capabilities.
What You Bring
We are looking for a candidate who has either led the process of taking a fast-growing, complex technology company through its IPO, or someone who was the #2 or #3 person to the CFO (leading either the accounting (preferred) or finance teams) through this process.
15-20 years of experience in a Finance and/or Accounting, including a minimum of 7-10 years in an executive management role. You may have led the Finance function in a very large company or supported a company’s IPO process and this would ideally be your next step. We honor your experience, even if your title does not contain CFO.
Clear track record of leadership and results in multiple industries.
Clear track record of leading financing efforts and involvement in investor and analyst relations.
Experience managing a business valued greater than $500M that is growing at a rate greater than 50%.
Experience with dealing with high levels of complexity, a fast-moving culture, an appetite for risk, and integrating acquisitions a strong plus.
Experience managing the trade-off between growth and profitability to maximize the outcome for shareholders.
An entrepreneurial mindset, ambition, and outstanding organizational and leadership skills.
Ability to travel as needed.
Strong verbal and negotiation skills a strong plus.
Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting.CPA and MBA preferred.
