The candidate selected for this dynamic role will oversee all aspects of nursing care, health related and wellness services for Independent Living and Care Center residents of Vi communities. Additionally, provides company-wide guidance and education in the development and/or implementation of strategies, policies, and programs in accordance with federal, state, and local standards and regulations. The Chief Nursing Officer and Vice President of Resident Care acts as part of the extended executive management team helping the organization set and obtain its objectives.

Responsibilities include, but is not limited to:

Establishing consistent clinical practices, systems and processes to enhance and improve quality throughout the continuum of care with development and maintenance of standardized policies, procedures and protocols for company-operated healthcare venues.

Development of new clinical programs and services to advance clinical excellence in skilled nursing, assisted living and memory support and establishing resident care standards, monitoring results, and adjusting activity as part of Vi's Quality Assessment/Performance Improvement (QAPI) program.

Leads development of strategies essential to customer satisfaction in key elements of the resident experience while enhancing care, services and programming to support resident well-being in Independent Living, Assisted Living, Memory Support and Skilled Nursing.

Overseeing compliance with Medicare rules and requirements in the care venues and participation in the Medicare Compliance Committee.

Assessing staff development activities for appropriateness and effectiveness, including orientation, in-service education, and competency evaluation.

Providing thought leadership for the organization in functional areas: coordinating clinical research activities, monitoring industry trends & regulation changes, consulting Vi Medical Directors, and supporting implementation of nursing innovations.

Providing leadership for clinical software, call systems, and available technology for care venues.


Successful candidates are required to have a minimum of 15 years progressive leadership and management roles in healthcare administration within a multi-site company. Experience establishing standards and implementing programs and systems for clinical care and service in senior living is required. Masters degree in nursing or related healthcare field; and current RN license required. NHA, Nursing certification in a related nursing specialty preferred.

Other requirements include interest in geriatric nursing as evidenced in coursework or other professional activities, ability to provide leadership and vision, develop partnerships and influence all levels of organization. Excellent oral and written communication skills, ability to coach, develop, and build strong teams, computer proficiency in Microsoft office.

This is a corporate office position, based in downtown Chicago. Ability to travel up to 35%.
