The Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) will cultivate a values based culture that results in a highly engaged, robust team centered workforce to deliver on both short and long term objectives. This role collaborates with senior leadership and front-line team members to execute corporate development strategy and motivates change initiatives across the region to optimize organizational potential. The incumbent is encouraged to be a transformational leader who develops and supports a strong vision, a nursing shared-leadership structure, a professional practice model, and quality plans in a highly matrixed environment. Specific duties include, but are not limited to, administration, management and implementation of policies and programs in the functional areas of nursing and other clinical areas. The CNO is responsible for nursing policies, procedures, and standards to ensure quality care and nursing efficiency. As the CNO, this position ensures that patient expectations are met or exceeded, assures the organization can implement its mission, coordinates and integrates the care delivery system by partnering with care leaders from across the system.

Qualifications for the IU Health Arnett and West Central Region Chief Nursing Officer Role

Masters degree required. Doctorate preferred.If the Master's Degree is not in nursing then either a baccalaureate degree or doctoral degree must be in nursing.Must be a graduate of an ACEN/CCNE Accredited School.Current or ability to obtain state of Indiana licensure as Registered Nurse.Ideal candidates have a minimum 5+ years of senior nursing leadership experience in a complex environment, with a proven track record of excellent patient care and operational results.Prior leadership experience with a large, highly matrixed organization preferred.Actively engaged in professional development and service.A highly collaborative leader able to establish strong interpersonal relationships with physicians and colleagues.Ability to support a professional practice culture and to refine competencies in nursing practice.Ability to support a culture of Magnet. Ideally worked on a Magnet environment or been a part of the journey to Magnet.Demonstrated ability to lead change, engage nursing leaders and staff and advance patient experience, quality and safety.Experienced leader with a proven track record in managing a budget and staff, and leading an organization through change and delivering on strategic plans.Able to effectively communicate in a way that builds and maintains a climate of trust and inspires commitment from other to achieve organizational goals.A track record of leading transformational change, inspiring others to adapt to values, strategies, goals and plans in response to changing business conditions.A blend of management skills with technical expertise proven by superior planning, decision-making, negotiation, business and financial management skills/knowledge with a focus on adding value to the bottom line of the business to foster a preeminent healthcare environment.Strong change management experience. Culture integration and assimilation.Strong communication and relationship-building skills with all levels of employees, management and community leaders and a proven leader who is an effective, creative and visionary problem solver.A proven leader of people who is able to recruit, develop and mentor a top-notch team capable of supporting future growth and has demonstrated leadership in promoting diversity and inclusion in the workplace and community.Leader will have a demonstrated track record of professional advancement and contributions to the profession such as active involvement in professional organizations and board participation, Has achieved or is in pursuit of specialty certification.Requires knowledge and experience in human relations; finance; operations management; strategic planning; and community relations.Strong demonstrated transformational and complex, matrixed leadership skills (inspiring, problem solving, communication across multiple organizations, executing) to champion achieving the vision of the organization.Experience managing multiple complex projects involving multiple customers, interests and goals.A high energy and enthusiastic leader with an executive presence to match.Experience designing organizational structures to achieve business and operational results.Knowledge of industry issues, demonstrated experience and results such as 2nd Curve (transition from volume based to value based economics), accountable care and insurance/population risk models.Knowledge of applicable Federal, State, and Local regulatory agency guidelines and laws.Knowledge of clinical operations in ancillary clinical areas preferred.
