Reporting to the Executive Director (ED), the COO will ensure that the day-to-day operations of the organization run smoothly. The COO will be responsible for coordinating information flow and collaboration across the organization. 


Principal Responsibilities


Operations 


Develop operating strategies to support organizational goals, including creating, improving, and guaranteeing the successful implementation of processes, procedures, and systems

Manage the buildout of a new office/production space at the Brooklyn Navy Yard including securing proper permits and/or certifications; implement COVID-19 safety and OSHA measures

Manage vendor relationships in the areas of HR, Fiscal, and Pro-bono legal support; Lessors (New York and Los Angeles Locations)

Information Technology--analyze the current technology infrastructure and determine the level of technology to support the growth of specific programs and the organization overall. Assess cyber security needs as infrastructure grows

Ensure that organization is in compliance in all regulatory matters



Program Development and Management


Direct and expandRefoundry’s Covid-19 Makers Make Mask project

Manage Refoundry’s eStore and online sales of its goods and products

Work with the Development team to continuously identify funding opportunities to expand resources

Help create and implement systems to gather, report and share key data across departments and with funders

Support development of new programs; insure implementation in coordination with existing programs

Identify opportunities to leverage existing resources to support organizational mission and goals

Lead initial search and vetting for new staff, including program staff

Support Program Managers at each site, periodically reviewing program operations and outcomes to ensure allegiance to curriculum, standards, revenue targets and etc.  



Financials/Development 


Help create and manage organizational and program budgets 

Work with fiscal vendor to ensure expense and revenue processes and procedures are followed 

Ensure tax and other relevant filings are current

Assist with annual fiscal audit

Oversee organizational purchases 



Management 


Develop and manage recruiting and engaging of volunteers to support Refoundry’s work

Facilitate regular scheduled team meetings

In consultation with HR vendor, develop, implement and support onboarding of all new staff, volunteers and interns

Manager program partnerships and establish MOUs with new partners



Organizational Leadership


Serve as thought partner to ED to identify and support organizational mission and goals

Support the ED with board engagement and quarterly reporting as well as strategic planning



Qualifications


Bachelor's degree

Experience working management level in non-profit organization or a private sector/for-profit entity (5+ years preferred)

Ability to work on multiple projects at the same time and to manage shifting priorities

Use financial, statistical and economic data to assess organizational results and manage risk

Experience and keen understanding of driving productivity and efficiencies 

Commitment to racial and economic justice and strong intersectional analysis  

Deep critical thinker with strong analytical and communication skills

Entrepreneurial outlook

Proactive and operates with a sense of urgency and purpose

Ability to develop and execute work plans

Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

Preferred: Direct work with people impacted by the criminal justice system and/or other marginalized groups; working knowledge of conversational Spanish; product design, manufacturing and/or sales
