Identifying material individual, aggregate and emerging risks, both qualitatively and quantitatively, including hard-to-quantify risks such as reputation;
Assessing these risks and measuring the bank’s exposure to them;
Supporting the Board in its implementation, review and approval of the CNAO risk governance framework which includes the bank’s risk culture, risk appetite and risk limits;
Ongoing monitoring of the risk-taking activities and risk exposures to ensure they are in line with the board-approved risk appetite, risk limits and corresponding capital or liquidity needs (i.e. capital planning);
Establishing an early warning or trigger system for breaches of the bank’s risk appetite or limits;
Influencing and, when necessary, challenging material risk decisions; and
Reporting to senior management and the Board Risk Committee, as appropriate, on all these items, including but not limited to proposing appropriate risk-mitigating actions.
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
Manage the implementation of all aspects of the risk function, including implementation of processes, tools and systems to identify, assess, measure, manage, monitor and report risks, in compliance with the requirements of the Federal Reserve Regulation YY.
Champion and oversee an effective and independent enterprise-wide risk management framework for the North American entities of Rabobank that is in alignment with Rabobank Group policies and standards, and US and other regional regulatory requirements.
Review, approve and monitor the strategies, policies and procedures for all aspect of liquidity risk, including but not limited to, the establishment and monitoring of liquidity risk limits, cash flow projections, liquidity buffer and stress testing.
Assist in the development and management of processes to identify and evaluate business risk and control self-assessments.
Comply with US laws, rules and regulations, including but not limited to AML and OFAC/Sanctions requirements and the reporting of suspicious activities, as well as all Rabobank policies, procedures and guidelines.
Lead, manage and motivate direct reports, including setting objectives, providing feedback and relevant support, training and developments
As a member of the North America Executive Team, support the CEO by contributing to the resolution of any issues that may arise from time to time
Bachelors or Master’s degree in financial or target industry
At least 15 years of experience in senior and risk management positions
Regulatory interaction experience with a large and complex banking organization
Excellent written and verbal skills
Flexibility to adapt to changing environment
Ability to think strategically
Up-to-date technical and industry knowledge
