The Leading Manufacturing / Operations Company Cyber Technology (CT) Product Line is a leading multidisciplinary research and development organization dedicated to maintaining system performance in the face of modern cyber threats. Through collaboration with Department of Defense (DoD), Intelligence Community (IC), academia, and the industrial research base, our organization develops new technologies to seed future military capabilities.
Who you are:
The Cyber Technology Product Line within FAST Labs is seeking individuals with a high level of self-initiative as a Chief Scientist to lead and grow our research and development portfolios in technologies that secure next-generation cyber technologies while sustaining high performance.
Duties of this position include:
Oversee the execution of R&D portfolio. Deconstruct complex challenges into a research plan that extends the state-of-the-art. Work with government partners, internal research staff, management and academic partners to execute the research plan despite aggressive deadlines and shifting priorities.
Direct the technical work of engineers and researchers spanning multiple disciplines. Continue to grow our research base through marketing and proposal writing. Identify emerging trends and assemble the research expertise necessary to address customer challenges.
Work closely with government technologies as a trusted advisor to ensure effective investment of the government s limited budget. Support the growth of Leading Manufacturing / Operations Company intellectual property base through the development of patents and trade-secrets. Collaborate with Leading Manufacturing / Operations Company business areas to cultivate technology transition and develop next-generation product capabilities.
Set future strategic direction and concept shaping through technology roadmaps. Build broad support through partnerships, IR&D investment, and cooperation with military leadership. Advance our research expertise and reputation. Work with CT leadership to recruit lead researchers and develop new technical staff. Participate in conference and journals to advance the current state-of-the-art. Mentor junior staff while also working with leadership to create a culture of innovation.
Typical Education & Experience
Typically a Bachelor's Degree and 12 years work experience or equivalent experience
Required Skills and Education
14 Years of experience with a Master s degree; 12 years with a Doctorate degree
Summary of responsibilities:
40% Overseeing or leading research teams and projects, conducting research 25% Defining, pursuing, and developing research directions, proposals, and projects 20% Writing research papers, developing and delivering technical presentations 15 % Participating in leadership and management activities.
Develop and maintain strong customer relationships to identify customer objectives, priorities, and requirements to position Leading Manufacturing / Operations Company as an innovative industry leader.

Preferred Skills and Education
Experience working with DARPA and other Government S&T Labs
Track record of research and development in network technologies such as routing algorithms, transport protocols, quality-of-service, and/or network defense.
Experience with DOD tactical data links and/or wireless network standards is desired.
Basic appreciation of emerging technology trends such as advances in information theory, control theory, machine learning, cryptology, and distributed systems. Identify opportunities where novel applications of these emerging technologies can improve cyber security and system performance.
