Perform all necessary test protocols on patients as deemed necessary by physician. Provide leadership and oversight over Technicians within the practice. Provide a preliminary report for all patients; Contacts physician if a critical finding is obtained. Performs ultrasound guided pseudo-aneurysm compression under the direct supervision of vascular surgeon. Assists vascular surgeon in ultrasound guided pseudo-aneurysm injections. Maintains Vascular Laboratory standards as set by Inter-societal Commission for the Accreditation of Vascular Laboratories (ICAVL). Participation in QA evaluations. On-call availability. Other required responsibilities in order to maintain the standard of excellence. Is knowledgeable of, adheres
to and promotes safe practices.
Provide leadership and oversight over Vascular Technicians within the practice.
Manage the accreditation requests for documentation.
Performs quality and efficient vascular studies in order to assist with a patient's diagnostic work-up
Follows routine protocols and/or physicians specific prescriptions. Repeat of examinations due to non-compliance or poor quality is minimal as observed by manager / supervisor or physician review.
Provides accurate and compassionate patient care in order to ensure service excellence, patient cooperation, safety, and satisfaction.
Identifies patients and exams accurately 100% of the time according to departmental policy as observed by supervisor or other hospital staff.
Performs various record-keeping tasks in order to ensure department goals are met, medical record documentation accuracy, and daily operations run smoothly and efficiently.
Demonstrates a mastery of end user computer skills of the CPAC and clinical scheduling system by accurately and independently performing related tasks such as exam scheduling, completion, document scanning etc.
Participates in various learning opportunities in order to further personal knowledge/skills and assists with teaching or training others.
Employee follows established safety precautions and procedures in the performance of all duties in order to ensure a safe environment.
Operates equipment and performs job related duties in a safe manner, following policies and procedures, to minimize risk of injury to patients.
Demonstrates an understanding of body mechanics and use of patient lifting devices when appropriate.
Assess correlation of test results with symptoms. Consult with physician and perform additional necessary studies.
Checks physician s orders for specific test. Clarify ambiguous orders with referring physician. Evaluates indications for requested test per patient s history.
Collects all prescriptions, referrals and co-pays of patients when necessary. Ensure timeliness of testing.
Enters patient information onto Laboratory database. Adheres to departmental safety procedures during test
Evaluates patient s ability to adequately cooperate/tolerate specific test modality. Performs physical assessment pertinent to vascular disease.
Maintain equipment & exam rooms in neat & orderly manner. Inform supervisor of problem areas or equipment malfunctions.
Maintains professional attitude when dealing with patients and personnel in other departments
Notify physician of critical findings. Discuss results with physician if requested.
Observe patient for discomfort or change in clinical status during study.
Obtain hardcopy documentation and compile data for record keeping & reporting.
Prepares preliminary report of results. Consults with colleagues or Medical Director if results are confusing or ambiguous.
Reports to work in a timely fashion on a daily basis. Responds and arrives promptly when responding to on-call emergency.
Schedules procedures and maintains daily workload.
Seeks out further training if warranted. Meets continuing education status per ICAVL standards.
Completion of formal Ultrasound Training Program with previous experience as a Vascular Tech.
Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) or Registered Vascular Specialist (RVS) status required. A technologist may be hired as registry eligible. In such cases the candidate must sit for the registry exam within 6 months of hire and pass the exam within the first year of hire or be terminated.
Successful completion of all Orientation Programs; Completion of all mandatory compliance training
