Internship Description

HR Directions seeks a prospect for its client RTI International for the CIO Communications Internship within the Global Technology Solutions (GTS) group, under the Chief Information Officer.  

The Global Technology Solutions group is responsible for the technology platforms to support our research projects and innovations at the institute.

The CIO Communications Internship will focus on improving communications for the various innovations and technology changes in the institute delivered by GTS. Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to: 

Establishing and managing internal (both domestic and international) newsletters on Tips & Tricks and Spotlight Teams for Insider

Defining, building, and distributing COVID-19 updates related to technology changes through appropriate media

Designing and implementing a Communication Roadmap to sustain these deliverables now and into the future

Collaborating and building a CIO State of the Institute communications

RTI's Internship Program emphasizes experiential and mentored learning experiences, providing students and recent degree recipients an opportunity to apply their academic knowledge and skills in a meaningful and practical way. Additional Information

This virtual paid internship will take place from early June 2020 through late August 2020. The internship requires a minimum commitment of 20 hours per week. Hours are flexible during business hours, Monday through Friday.  

Required Qualifications

Currently enrolled (for the duration of the internship) Duke PhD student

Demonstrated leadership skills and assertive outcome based delivery

Proficient in building and presenting content in a meaningful and creative way

Demonstrate the art of storytelling and illustrating technical information clear and concise manner

Excellent oral and written communication skills, as well as strong interpersonal skills

Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook

Preferred Qualifications

Understanding of communication styles and methods

Creative thinking and design capabilities

Ability to organize multiple ideas and achieve goals in structured manner

Ability to work independently and drive plans collaboratively
