Provide flight and ground (classroom) instruction and administrate the University’s 141 flight program in accordance with the responsibilities of a Chief Flight Instructor dictated in 14 CFR 141; oversee application to the FAA and follow-through to achieve 141 certification of the Private Pilot flight training program at UMES; student evaluation to include stage and end-of-course checks; flight Instructor supervision, flight checks and re-current training; ensure compliance with FAA requirements for continued certification and recertification as well as other federal requirements such as those imposed by the Transportation Security Administration (TSA).
Classification 25-0000 Education, Training, and Library Occupations
Master’s degree in Aviation or Aeronautical Science, with extensive experience in flight training and pilot ground instruction, preferably in a college program. Must have experience in oversight of training operations and student tracking and evaluation.
PhD in Aviation, Aviation industry experience, and additional FAA Instructor ratings preferred, including Instrument and Multi-engine.
