The Data Manager in the department of Radiation Oncology Clinical Research at MD Anderson Cancer Center develops and manages computerized databases appropriate to the design of various research studies. The Data Manager develops and maintains systems for the coding, editing and computer entry of data for assigned research studies. This position designs and maintains management reports on the databases for various research studies. It will be responsible for performing and assisting in the entry of research data into computerized databases. The Data Manager must adapt, implement and maintain acquired database software most appropriate for the needs of various research initiatives and assist with descriptive and exploratory statistical analyses.
KEY JOB FUNCTIONS
Responsible for research data across the department.
Implement quality control measures on research databases.
Assess data quality on regular basis and provide updates to study teams and Principal Investigators.
Assist with data exports for protocol annual review processes, interim analyses, DSMB reviews, etc and provide protocol specific analysis.
Conduct internal data audits of protocols as requested.
Prepare specific protocol reports and analysis to aid decisions.
Provide data sets to assist in manuscript and grant preparation.
Collaborate with Principal Investigator, research staff and other data team/database managers.
Possess project management experience and understands research protocol deliverables.
Database Development and Management
Meet with Research Faculty and Staff to design, build and modify research databases as needed.
Populate/enter data into appropriate databases and reports information to Department of Radiation Oncology Faculty and other Institutional Faculty and or Institutional Departments as directed.
Research Staff Management
Assist Research Supervisors to assure effective use of human resources (i.e. Research Data Coordinators) for data needs.
Monitor and assess data needs and reports on work quality.
Required: Bachelor's degree with a major in Computer Science, Statistics or related field.
Preferred: Master's degree.
Required: Five years of experience in database design and management.
With preferred degree, three years of experience is required.
May substitute required education degree with additional years of equivalent experience on a one to one basis.
Preferred: Programming experience in SAS or other software programs; Visual Basic experience; Excel coding/macros; REDCAP, Prometheus, Epic and other database platform experience.
