BAE Systems has an immediate need for a highly qualified Program Manager to support the Chief Scientist, Intelligence and Security (I&S) Sector to support various DOD Programs including: U.S. Navy (SSP, NAVAIR, NAVSEA, etc.), U.S. Air Force, and Army programs involving weapon system integration in the area of Weapon System and Specialty Engineering efforts. The Program Manager will report directly to the Chief Scientist for Special Projects on the various DOD Program Systems Integration contracts.
To be successful, the candidate must be skilled in the business processes that enable effective program structuring and execution, in the leadership behaviors that enable effective planning, monitoring, and control, and in customer relationship building.
The ability to communicate, coordinate, collaborate, and lead in a visible and proactive manner is an imperative aspect of the role, and will be evaluated equally alongside specific, applied experiences. Experience with contract management, financial accounting, and resource allocation processes is required. The ideal candidate will be highly engaging, team-oriented, customer-focused, and able to respond rapidly to a dynamic programmatic environment.
Key roles and responsibilities include:
Directly supporting the Chief Scientist in the strategic development and stand-up of a specialty engineering team that will provide system level engineering integration and coordination for various DOD Programs including: U.S. Navy (SSP, NAVAIR, NAVSEA, etc..), U.S. Air Force, and Army programs in the area of Weapon System Development, Sustainment, Program Safety and Surety efforts with a higher caliber of systems engineering capability;
Assist the BAE Systems SP201 contract Systems Engineering & Integration Program Area Managers, Technical Leads and Deputy PMs with advice and strategy development for them as a consultant;
Assist in the development of an integrated weapons system safety/surety strategic plan for SP20124 to close the gaps that currently exist. These efforts are as direct charge to the SP201 contract;
Support an integration viewpoint review of technical reviews, technical what-if drills, reports and meeting presentations to ensure a full weapons system integration perspective is being discussed and reported upon by the contract requirements;
Directly support the overarching strategic execution of the vision that is being defined with respect to BAE Systems role at the various DOD Programs;
Developing a close and trusted relationship with customers at all levels from inside BAE Systems Program Areas to advising Program Area Managers on best strategy to approach customers;
Synthesizing customer future needs and opportunities into actionable and measurable plans;
Informing internal business and program leaders regarding contract management risks and opportunities;
Ensuring a coordinated and comprehensive approach to service delivery across the program; and
Contributing to workforce development initiatives, training and knowledge management transfer ensuring that organizational skills and competencies remain relevant to projected requirements in current and future contracts.
Typical Education & Experience
Typically a Bachelor's Degree and 10 years work experience or equivalent experience
Required Skills and Education
Bachelor s Degree in applicable field and at least 15 years related work experience
Active DOD Top Secret security clearance
Significant experience within the U.S. Navy s various Strategic Weapons Systems in the SSP Office and the Trident II D5 Strategic Weapon System (SWS) and other DOD Programs on contract.
Significant experience in a leadership role within one or more Navy SWS Enterprise Areas and other DOD Programs on contract.
Advanced conceptual thinking in complex and/or completely new situations
Ability to define professional/technical direction and strategy
Skilled communicator who influences and shapes the image of a complex program area
Negotiating internally and externally at high levels or with persons of influence frequently
Extensive experience managing personnel
Preferred Skills and Education
Ability to engage at a high level withvarious DOD Programs including: U.S. Navy (SSP, NAVAIR, NAVSEA, etc.), U.S. Air Force, and Army.
Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or working toward.
