The Category Solutions Director will be providing information and insights to Sales leadership to understand and anticipate the needs of C-level partners in strategic categories. As a strategic entity in the Disney Ad Sales (DAS) organization within DTCI, the Category Solutions team will work to ensure that DAS is well positioned to meet the Company’s long-term goals and our Clients’ business needs.
The role requires experience in both identifying and solving for challenging issues in multiple business categories, marketing, and media today. An understanding of consumers’ evolving media and purchasing behaviors, industry measurement solutions, changes in the competitive landscape and the increased focus on data driven solutions and audience-based buying is critical.
Given the rapid changes in the media marketplace, this role will be central to enhancing and broadening the DAS value proposition to advertisers and agencies. The ability to think strategically, communicate well, lead, think, build consensus, work in fluid environment, and—most importantly—deliver results will define success.
Serve as a category specialist by providing aggregated learnings for category as a whole while being mindful of nuances between clients within the category
Providing the sales team (vertical & transactional) with strategic based insights that support the growth of the category, working continually to evolve insights based on the demands of the business.
Work in tandem with the sales team to deliver strategic recommendations that hit on client business objectives
Develop custom creative solutions for clients by leveraging Disney’s diverse portfolio and differentiated storytelling capabilities
Partnering with cross-functional category and sales leadership to aid in the development of the strategic vision for the category portfolio and setting immediate and future priorities for the Knowledge Manager and Research teams
Build and leverage case studies from within the category to help story tell & showcase the capabilities that Disney has to offer
Minimum of 8 years of strategic media planning experience
Experience using Research to validate recommendation to analyze and inform strategy to clients
Exceptional project management skills, including presentation of findings to Senior Leadership.
Strong multitasking capabilities and the ability to work effectively in an environment of tight deadlines and constant change.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to summarize ideas and issues to Senior Leadership.
Strong attention to detail without losing sight of broader objectives.
Experience with tools including Nielsen TV ratings products, MRI / Simmons, Adobe Omniture, comScore, and SPSS
Experience managing custom projects with third parties as well as primary data analysis
Passion for the Walt Disney Company©, its content, and the advertising landscape
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment is essential
Strong time management skills, and excellent written and oral communications skills
Computer experience with vendor-based software, as well as Windows-based PC software (PowerPoint, Excel, Word); proficiency in Tableau a plus
Willing to travel as needed
