The Director of Client Analytics is responsible for building and leading a team of analytic professionals to solve business problems using repeatable tools and techniques that will enable the Sales organization to make better decisions for our teams and our clients through Descriptive, Predictive, and Prescriptive analytics capabilities. This role will manage all analytical modeling workstreams that serve internal Sales and Sales Operations team, as well as boundary partners in Finance, Corporate Strategy, Data Solutions, and Enterprise Platforms. Focus areas include client segmentation and opportunity identification models, as well as ad hoc analysis that support strategic Cox Automotive objectives. The leader in this role will be comfortable managing technical resources and data scientists, as well as interfacing with business owners and translating deep analytical details into business value. This role is also responsible for enabling cross-functional partners in the Sales Business Office through developing an AWS platform that supports scalable ad hoc and what-if analysis capabilities that will produce insights for our stakeholders in an agile and business-centric way.


• Supervise and lead all the functions and day to day activities of the Client Analytics team (analytical model development, data staging, normalization, business interpretation of the results)

• Lead the development and maintenance of a centralized analysis dataset in (AWS)

• Implement an analytics request management process to prioritize, track, manage, and communicate status with stakeholders within Client Analytics; this process should adhere to Agile principals as the nature of these requests and priority is fluid

• Support deal management analytics through access to common data sources and platforms

• Summarize / translate complex technical concepts into simple communications / stories

• Identify relevant data sources to feed the dynamic segmentation as well as define the segmentation data plan (activities and scheduling for implementing, improving, and updating the data set)

• Define dynamic segmentation and opportunity sizing use cases across other areas of the business and build out the conceptual models within the CAI dynamic segmentation framework

• Establish and develop strong relationships and alignment with Sales Business Office, Sales Teams and boundary partners

• Develop a closed-loop process with CAI departments to maintain and improve upon analytics capabilities

• Communicate requests to business owners at a proper level, using a combination of data-based and visual story telling (PowerPoint, Excel, Tableau, Power BI, charts, graphs, tables, etc.)

• Continuous learning and training to stay up to speed on the latest industry trends and data analytic innovations including capabilities to translate metrics into usable client insights. 

• Ability to give clear and consistent instructions to team members

• Ability to effectively develop, lead, motivate, influence, direct, and supervise working teams

• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills including experience in presenting to senior leadership in client facing roles

• Expert knowledge in analytics, statistics, mathematical modeling, and experimental design applied in developing customer segmentation schemes

• Experience developing and implementing customer segmentation based on various statistical methods (classification, clustering, etc.)

• Experience and comfort working with large data sets, data blending, and structuring outputs for consumption at a variety of levels

• Excellent writing proficiency, visual design, and presentation skills required

• Proven ability to establish and maintain productive working relationships and influence at all levels of the organization

• Strong decision-making skills

• Success in a fast pace environment – high energy, quick turns, get-it-done initiative, limited oversight


Bachelor’s Degree in Analytics, Mathematics, Economics, Statistics, Computer Science or equivalent quantitative discipline. Master’s Degree preferred.

10+ years of experience with statistical modeling, data mining, machine learning, and advanced analytical modeling

5+ years management experience

Strong proficiency with statistical software, data manipulation and visualization tools (R, Python, Tableau, PowerBI, Alteryx, SQL) preferred

Management experience in a complex organization, with a proven track record of positive results required

Effective consultative skills – mastered hypotheses-based approach, quantitative and analytical approaches, strategic thinker, and influence based on insights and facts

Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills required

Executive level communication skills and presence preferred

Demonstrated ability to understand and influence business partners

Demonstrated ability to explain complex concepts using reporting and data visualization tools

Demonstrated ability to be successful within a fast-paced, complex, matrixed environment

Lean / Agile experience preferred

Up to 10% travel requirement
