The Manager of Cost Accounting is responsible for maintaining the corporate cost accounting system to provide expertise in financial and reimbursement analysis, modeling, and support management in business development, operations and clinical improvement projects.
Maintains established corporate departmental policies, procedures, objectives, quality assurance methods, and safety codes.Demonstrates compliance with official rules and regulations as well as the health care systems’ policies, procedures, and organizational requirements.
Demonstrates appropriate and professional communication behavior toward patients, customers, and coworkers.Cooperates with Management and peers in order to facilitate an environment of teamwork and collaboration.
Responsible for the overall management, support and utilization of the Health System’s cost accounting decision support process.
Develops complete understanding of internal fiscal information systems and makes recommendations for system enhancements.
Verifies cost accounting system data collection process to ensure data integrity.
Oversees the routine maintenance and training of clinical management on RVU development worksheets for cost accounting system.
Works closely with the Reimbursement department and Patient Accounting to ensure the correct patient reimbursement is loaded into the cost accounting system each month.
Selects, trains/orients, assigns department staff, evaluates performance, and makes recommendations for personnel action.
Maintains established policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance program and safety standards.
Maintains departmental reports and records and collects statistical data for administrative and regulatory purposes.
Generates timely financial reports, and coordinates the efforts/functions of assigned associates to achieve the end results.
Enhances professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, current literature, in-service meetings, and workshops.
Participates in administrative staff meetings and attends other meetings as assigned.
Reviews, interprets, and analyses financial and statistical data for Administration.
Provides technical assistance and training to departments for the cost accounting process.
Reviews, monitors, and evaluates monthly variance reports.
Prepares and / or collaborates with outside accounting and management consulting firms in preparation of financial feasibility studies.
Collaborates with Director and Assistant Administrator in the preparation, analysis, and presentation of financial statistics and reports to the governing Board and Administration.
Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting
MBA or MHA preferred
Certified Public Accountant (CPA) preferred.
COMPLEXITY OF WORK:
Requires critical thinking, decisive judgment, and ability to work with minimal supervision
Minimum of 10 years of experience including 5 years in management
5 years of related cost accounting work experience in a non-profit health system
Previous experience with financial report presentation/analysis is preferred
Requires the ability to sit and be stationary for prolonged periods of time, normal or corrected vision and manual dexterity sufficient to perform work on a personal computer.
Extensive use of a PC that requires normal or corrected visual acuity, dexterity sufficient to use a PC keyboard.
