Directs the operation of radiological and imaging services, providing inpatient, outpatient, emergency, and/or trauma radiology services, ensuring high quality, efficiency, and responsiveness. Ensures that safety requirements are met for all radiological and imaging services. Maintains effective and responsive relationships with patients, attending medical staff, and other departments. Manages department finances, including budgeting and control of salary, non-salary, and capital investment expenses. Manages professional and clerical staff, including day-to-day supervision, employee relations, and staff development.

Job Responsibilities 

Oversees the day-to-day operation of all radiological and imaging services, including but not limited to Diagnostic Radiography, Mammography, CT, MRI, Ultrasound, Nuclear Medicine, Interventional, Emergency Department, and Operating Room imaging.

Organizes, monitors, and coordinates all Performance Improvement and Quality Control activities.

Ensures effective management and maintenance of current and archived imaging and interpretive result records.

Ensures that department/functional operations are in full compliance with accrediting and regulatory agency standards.

Develops protocols and practices for radiation safety.

Provides technical assistance to all areas of the operating unit regarding radiological and imaging services and radiology safety.

Responds promptly to requests from other departments within the operating unit, and maintains a cooperative relationship with the corresponding department(s) at other operating units.

Ensures adherence to Service Excellence standards and provision of outstanding customer service to both internal and external customers.

Plans facility and capital equipment programs, researching and evaluating new technologies, and developing plans for the introduction of new technology into the department.

Coordinates and monitors the development of long-range plans and annual budgets for the radiology department.

Monitors financial performance to ensure it meets budgeted revenue/expense ratios.

Participates in contract negotiations with vendors for all supplies, services, and equipment procurement for the radiology department.

Selects hires, and trains staff to perform assigned functions at a competent level.

Develops work plans and schedules to ensure appropriate staffing levels.

Completes performance evaluations, employee relations, and needed disciplinary activities.

Establishes performance expectations and provides direction, feedback, and guidance to employees.

Determines educational and training needs of staff based on annual assessment of individuals and follows up with an educational plan to meet needs.

Additional Requirements:

Experience: 5 years related professional experience, and 2 years management experience in leading radiology services in a hospital or healthcare-related setting.

Education: Associate's degree in Radiologic Science. Bachelors degree preferred.

Certification: American Registered Radiologic Technologists and CPR required upon hire
