Job Description

Specific Job Requirements

Oversees and shapes the Event Planning strategy, operational responsibilities and compliance perspectives

Responsible for support of major sales meetings, conferences and other events aligned to NA Commercial organization

Oversees strategic planning, department development, workflow modifications, and updating operations guidelines and policies.

Develops policies and procedures for the department and is responsible for the implementation of any changes.

Manages post-conference reconciliations and preparation of periodic and ad hoc reports to advise internal customers in making business decisions.

Oversees efforts to negotiate new contracts for major vendors.

Accountable for internal policies and SOPs related to Event Planning

Oversees efforts to develop and execute training for Event Planning team members.

Oversees the implementation of relevant technology related to event planning and management, with an effort to automate processes where possible.

Develops and implements cross-training and knowledge sharing programs within internal group and across other departments.

Provides coaching and knowledge sharing to Event Planning team for development of management and technical skills.

Develops solutions to complex problems, which require a high degree of ingenuity, creativity, and innovation.

Manages/oversees projects from start to completion, including implementation planning, through rigorous application of sound project management practices

Measures the impact of events through: surveys, feedback and analytics

Knowledge & Skills 

Strong leadership skills with an ability to set a vision, to lead change, and to lead and mentor others are required.

Must have a strong executive presence with ability to command respect through exercise of sound business judgment and clear decision-making.  

Must be skilled at navigating a matrix organization and collaborating effectively with a broad range of stakeholders to include executive leadership

Excellent management skills to be able to conduct training, performance management, planning, prioritization, objective setting, recruitment and selection, meeting management and plan execution are a must. 

Excellent communication skills with a well-developed ability to efficiently and productively communicate both verbally and in writing.

Demonstrated excellence in project management and effectively managing multiple projects/priorities including budgeting and actual spend against budget is required.

Demonstrated ability to seek information to inform problem scope, frame the problem/issue and develop solutions

Demonstrated ability to effectively select vendor partners, provide direction and hold them accountable for results

Minimum Experience 

10+ years of related experience and a BS or BA degree

Certified Meeting Professional (CMP) or equivalent certification is preferred.

Successful people management experience is required.

Specific event management experience with high-profile meetings, events and exhibits is required.  

Experience in biotech or pharmaceuticals industry preferred
