Job Summary(Primary function):
The Director, FP&A, Strategic Planning & Business Development is responsible for providing analysis, evaluation and modeling for the Finance group including various internal and external strategic options as well as new business opportunities and/or acquisitions. Serve as the primary liaison between Strategic Planning, Business Development and Finance.
Essential Functions of the Job (Key responsibilities):
Work closely with Finance senior management to create and maintain various complex, dynamic and integrated financial models
Assist in the development/preparation of presentations for senior management
Ownership and maintenance of the Long Range Financial Plan model
Lead the preparation of the long range financial plan which is incorporated into the corporate strategic plan
Perform scenario analysis around potential internal or external assumption changes and assess the impact on the long range plan
Work with Business Development on the financial impact of any potential deal or alliance
Create various financial models in excel as needed (NPV, eNPV, ROI, etc.)
Knowledge of Gross to Net calculations and accounting
Review and provide financial input to term sheets/agreements
Assess financial impact of deal and deal terms (i.e. valuation and proforma analysis)
Provide financial analysis and evaluation of potential business development opportunities and/or acquisitions to assess the accretion/dilution impact on the organization incorporating input from Tax, Accounting, etc.
Develop the cost assumptions for Business Development modeling in coordination with Development Operations and Commercial
Support the financial analysis and evaluation of partnership/license opportunities for product in Latin America, Asia, Middle East, etc.
Support the VP of FP&A with other finance related activities as needed
Proactively suggest and champion FP&A process improvements
Various ad hoc analyses
Qualifications (Minimal acceptable level of education, work experience, and competency):
Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting or related field; MBA preferred
10+ years of related business experience; 5+ years in the pharmaceutical/biotech industry
Experience with financial modeling and business analysis
At least 2 years of experience in modeling M&A and/or licensing transactions
Deep understanding of financial statements and financial statement analysis
Strong attention to detail
Experience with Hyperion a plus
Excellent Excel skills required
Able to independently structure, consolidate and analyze data to provide insights,
support management requests and provide recommendations.
Creative problem-solver, with an ability to independently and proactively manage analytical projects in highly cross-functional environment.
Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
Demonstrated ability to thrive in a dynamic and fast-paced environment with the ability to think strategically
