To continue our growth trajectory, we are looking for an FP&A expert to join our team in New York, bringing a passion for numbers and experience in the music industry, ready to help us hit the right tunes in planning, drive the business and meet our numbers. SoundCloud operates key offices in NYC, LA, Berlin and London.

Your role

As Director FP&A, you will primarily provide business advisory to executive team leaders to help them assess and direct their business unit or department(s) performance.You will also engage in both regular reporting and analysis, work closely with your Accounting team counterparts to ensure the accuracy of periodic actual results as well as a number of high-profile projects that may include business development opportunities and M&A related work The role is focussed on our growing music and entertainment business and will be working closely with our artist and revenue teams in New York.

Leveraging your experience in the music and entertainment industry, you will play a key leadership role in operational and financial planning (the “FP”), as well as monitoring and analyzing scenarios and results (The “A”). As such, you will be at the center of the action and help the team make decisions on a daily basis by applying your analytics and benchmarking experience, you will have a strong foundation to extract, analyse, and visualize key data, helping us to drive forward our growing business. You will work closely with the wider finance team, but also in cross-functional settings allowing you to have an impact across the organization whilst at the same time developing your skills on a daily basis.

Your profile

You are an analytical thinker with attention to detail, ready to solve complex cross-functional problems. Based on intellectual curiosity, you don’t need micromanagement - working independently and in a fast paced environment excites you. Operationally, you live for the challenge, breaking it into small, achievable pieces whilst focusing on delivery. As a self-starter with the ability to manage priorities, your intrinsic motivation to level up is matched by your ability to coordinate multiple stakeholders and projects. Basically, you’ve got strong computer skills, a commercial mindset, coolness under pressure, and you are opinionated yet pragmatic when it comes to approaches and technologies.

As a team player, you create a shared sense of direction and community among stakeholders, and demonstrate excellent communication skills. You exhibit executive presence and the ability to interact with senior management in an agile, international environment.

Ideal candidates carry a degree from a top university and bring 8-10 years of relevant work experience in Financial Planning and Analysis and/or Business Development/M&A . This means having worked in the music industry or adjacent tech-companies so that you have experience with online business models and how to invest into music talent in the industry today. A thorough understanding of finance and the ability to work with many stakeholders are given, as a well rounded individual, your attitude will make the difference.

You bring solid experience or knowledge of

• Excel skills (pivot, macros)

• Financial Modeling including solid understanding of Ad Sales and Subscription models

• Strong leadership skills and can work well in teams or as individual contributor

• Strong business advisory skills based on experience and informed data analysis

• Adaptive Insight planning tool is a plus

• Web technologies, Web Analytics and Online Marketing

• Databases and Data Analysis (SQL, statistics etc.) are a plus

• Agile methodologies and effective communication, leveraging tools and technologies

• Basic accounting skills - ERP and accounting software; we use Oracle Fusion
