Duties

Is responsible to support First Nations and Inuit peoples in Canada in achieving their optimal health through the development management and oversight of equitable strategies, policies and programs aimed at ensuring the availability and delivery of quality primary, oral health, home and community health care services, and in the development of Indigenous Health Human Resource strategies.

Intent of the process

This is an anticipatory process. The intent is to staff the position indeterminately.


The process may also be used to staff similar positions with Indigenous Services Canada and Crown-Indigenous Relations and Northern Affairs Canada with various language requirements and profiles, and in various locations in Canada.

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

EDUCATION:


Post-graduate degree such as a Master’s degree, in a nursing discipline or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience. Registered Nurse with a license to practice in Canada.


Degree equivalency


EXPERIENCE:


-Experience in working with Indigenous partners and/or communities to advance Indigenous health priorities in a self-determination and substantive equality approach.


-Experience in developing or implementing inter-professional client, family or community centered care and innovation.


-Experience in working in leading and managing primary health care system(s) with quality and patient safety standards and clinical practice guidelines.


-Experience in managing human* and financial** resources.


*Human Resources : Applicants must clearly demonstrate that they have supervised staff, assigned work and developed staffing plans. Applicants must indicate the number of staff they supervised in each position.


**Financial Resources: Applicants must show evidence of managing and being accountable for a budget. This experience is defined as being responsible for financial planning, forecasting and reporting. Applicants must also indicate the size on the budget they managed directly.

ASSET QUALIFICATIONS:


-Experience in managing children’s specific programs or services


-Experience or working knowledge of traditional practices and ceremonies in an Indigenous context


-Experience on applying the principles of Ownership Control Access and Possession of data and information


-Experience in Facilities Management


-Knowledge of the principles and methods for the development of practice guidelines for Nursing/healthcare professionals

KNOWLEDGE:


-Knowledge of key factors of the Government of Canada’s Reconciliation agenda, with particular focus on specific health-related and population health or social determinants of health initiatives and tracking of health and social outcomes.


-Knowledge of nursing practice policies across federal, provincial and territorial systems.


-Knowledge of the Canadian Human Rights Tribunal Orders related to the First Nations Child and Family Services Program and Jordan’s Principle and the Government of Canada’s commitment and actions to comply with these Orders.
