The Director, High Throughput Analytics, Vaccines Analytical Research & Development is responsible for providing strategic and technical leadership for analytical development of vaccines candidates in our company's portfolio from discovery to launch. This position will have a specific focus on development and testing of high-throughput analytic assays to support a variety of platforms across the vaccines portfolio and will require key strategic partnering with Vaccines Process Research & Development, Cell-Based Potency Assay Development, and our partners in the commercialization and manufacturing.


The Director reports to the Executive Director, Vaccines Analytical Research & Development and will be directly responsible for a team of approximately 15-20 of our company's scientists. The position is accountable for delivering automated phase-appropriate, robust analytical methods that adhere to the highest scientific standards.


The successful candidate must function well and be able to collaborate in a fast-paced, integrated, multidisciplinary team environment.Research and industry experience should demonstrate successful application and management of state-of-the-art analytical and/or process techniques to solve problems, including experience with a variety of analytical methodology and/or automation platforms, sound scientific understanding of Critical Quality Attributes/Quality By Design (QbD)/Design of Experiments (DOE) principles as well as data analysis and statistics for setting specifications. The candidate should have proven experience in development of high-throughput approaches analytics and a strong understanding of correlation between in-process and release/stability analytics to develop fit for purpose, flexible collaboration with partners. 


The incumbent will be responsible for the recruiting and development of talent under her/his supervision. The Director selects, trains, and effectively works with colleagues to action development plans of talent under her/his direction.The role will also be responsible for proactive resource planning, risk assessment strategies and budget management as necessary (including merit and promotion planning).


Maintaining a strong network internally and across the external academic and regulatory community is expected, as well as advancing a culture of scientific excellence, Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) and compliance mindset and collaboration with various partners and stakeholders in development.


Position Qualifications:


Ph.D. with a minimum of five years of experience or M.S. with a minimum of eight years of experience or Bachelors with a minimum of 15 years of experience in the Pharmaceutical Industry

Excellent verbal and written communication skills, demonstrated creativity, strong interpersonal and collaborative skills

Demonstrated ability in leading cross-functional groups with proven talent development skillsets

Ability to work in a team environment with cross-functional interactions is essential

Strength in delivering results on firm deadlines in support of compound discovery, development and commercial filing

Education Minimum Requirement:


Ph.D. with a minimum of five years of experience or M.S. with a minimum of eight years of experience or Bachelors with a minimum of 15 years of experience in the Pharmaceutical Industry
