North America Technology team within Global Technology, is a technology team crafted to be the thought partners and drive the strategy deployment and technology solutions for North America business to meet and exceed the consumer expectations. Within the North America Technology team, NA Operations, Logistics and the Corporate Functions Engineering team will partner with NA business and Global and NA Technology teams to unlock and deliver innovation at scale in NA supply chain and corporate functions through the strategic development, deployment and management of groundbreaking Supply Chain, Finance and HR capabilities and technologies.

We are looking for an expert Director, NA Logistics and Transportation Engineering to join our NA Technology team.


We are looking for a strong engineering leader in Logistics, Transportation and Trade management, which encompasses the end-to-end logistics, transportation, and trade solutions across, inbound, outbound, domestics, international transportation and carrier networks. Someone who can build and foster an impactful engineering team in partnership with multi-functional geography and global teams to scale and deliver high quality capabilities and solutions across our NA logistics and transportation networks. Most importantly, we are looking for a leader who can create an inclusive work environment and provide the direction and support needed for their team to thrive. The engineering leader will bring strong logistics, transportation and systems integration engineering experience and expertise and will have a proven track record of designing, developing, and deploying industry strength transportation management, carrier integrations and trade management solutions. We are looking for someone who has ability to think big picture and diving deep into the technical details if need be.


The engineering leader will work on creating a proven technology strategy for the NA Logistics and Transportation platform solutions and help accelerate value creation and modernizing our logistics integration and transportation platform landscape in North America. You will be accountable for the engineering and modernizing various in-house legacy point to point integrations with Nike’s own DCs, 3PLs, Transportation Management Solution (TMS) and carriers working across the NA transportation and distribution landscape. You will also work closely with Transplace (NA TMS Vendor) and Centiro (Carrier Integrator) to help create solid designs that meet the long-term scale and flexibility needed to create a digital first supply chain at scale in North America.


The engineering leader will be part of the NA Supply Chain and Corporate Functions Engineering leadership team and work closely with NA Logistics and Node Management business capability and execution teams. The leader will partner closely with NA Tech Product Management, Program Management and Architecture to build and deploy forward looking capabilities while having a sharp focus on modernizing the legacy ecosystem. The leader will collaborate with the Global Logistics Engineering teams to create platform capabilities to support North America operations’ needs. You will also work closely with Manhattan (Global WM Vendor), 3PL Tech, Transplace and Centiro to ensure that our Logistics and Transportation capabilities are designed to be reliable, flexible and perform at the scale the North America business requires.

Successful candidates will exhibit the following:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business, or other relevant subject area, or equivalent experience. Master’s degree in science is a huge plus

• A minimum of 10 years management experience of successful software engineering teams in Logistics and Transportation Management Platforms

• Strength in strategic thinking and translating strategy to measurable objectives

• Leadership in a highly collaborative, multi-discipline development team environment

• Experience working in a distributed/cloud-based environment (e.g., Amazon EC2, GCE, Rackspace, Azure etc.)

• Experience in designing and implementing highly scalable web applications

• Experience in micro service architecture, domain driven design, and RESTful Services using languages such as Java, Node, or Scala

• Exposure to NoSQL data stores like Cassandra, DynamoDB, or MongoDB

• Exposure to relational data stores like MySQL and Oracle

• Exposure to monitoring and tracing tools like Splunk, SignalFx and New Relic

• Exposure to continuous integration, unit testing, static analysis, and automated integration tests. Continuous delivery experience preferred

• Experience in implementing or integrating with enterprise scale packages like SAP AFS, SAP S4, TMS and Manhattan and other WMS systems

• Solid understanding of Scrum and agile principles

• Comfortable leading globally distributed and diverse teams

• Comfortable attending meetings with partners across multiple global locations

• Excellent verbal and written communication and collaboration skills to effectively communicate with both business and technical teams

Open to remote work, except cannot work in South Dakota, Vermont, and West Virginia. These candidates will be required to relocate.
