MU Advancement is seeking a fundraiser for the School of Health Professions and the Sinclair School of Nursing. The Director will have a key focus on qualifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding highly rated prospects with a goal of securing major, leadership, and principal gifts (five- to seven-figure gifts). This position will report directly to The Assistant Vice Chancellor for Health Systems Advancement.


 Core Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:


Collaborate with others to advance the programs and achieve fundraising goals for the School of Health Professions and the Sinclair School of Nursing in accordance with the Office of Vice Chancellor for Advancement.


Provide leadership, coaching, mentoring, supervision, and inspiration to the SHP and SSN advancement officers.


Identify prospective individual, corporate and foundation donors--major and leadership gifts--and initiate appropriate personal cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship activities.


Meet annual performance standards with respect to minimum number of 1) submitted major gift proposals; 2) accepted proposals; 3) substantive visits and contacts. 


Prepare reports and follow-up correspondence for donors, prospective donors, and academic and advancement leadership.


Work with Deans, department chairs and administrators in the identification and prioritization of appropriate fundraising activities.


Provide leadership for other advancement activities within the Schools including, but not limited to, annual fund, stewardship, and donor recognition.


Travel is expected within a range of 40 to 50 percent of time. Some evening and weekend activities is also expected.

Requirements


Minimum Qualifications


A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 5 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.


Preferred Qualifications


Five years fundraising experience, alumni/volunteer relations or public relations; or equivalent transferable skills showing an understanding of the development model, i.e. pursuing and cultivating donors, customers, or business relationships

Higher education healthcare fundraising experience will be prioritized

Self-motivation and discipline to regularly set and achieve work goals

Outstanding collaboration as a member of a team and ability to work independently and with many diverse constituencies should be evident 

Strong organizational skills are required, exemplary interpersonal and written communication skills are essential, as is the ability to favorably affect sophisticated volunteers and donors

Other important characteristics include a strong work ethic, personal integrity, emotional intelligence, strategic thinking and planning skills, and a commitment to the mission and values of the MU Advancement, the School of Health Professions, and the Sinclair School of Nursing

Must maintain a valid driver’s license and wireless service to carry out the responsibilities of this position
