Southern New Hampshire University is currently seeking a Director of Career Services. The Director of Career Services is responsible for the leadership and management of a team of Team Leads and Advisors, focusing on the following key areas: career advising, experiential learning and early engagement, business development (employer relations), and operations and analytics.


The Director is responsible for ensuring that Team Leads and Advisors are delivering exceptional service in line with SNHU’s Core Values.The Director’s primary responsibilities are building a high performing team, managing and measuring results, and driving engagement. 


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:


Review established reports daily to effectively drive team performance

Establish presence on floor with Advising team

Conduct weekly 1-on-1 meetings with direct reports

Develop effective leaders in accordance with core competencies

Act with agility and urgency to meet business needs

Lead by example and challenge the status quo to focus on continuous improvement 

Make quality decisions with an understanding of the business while positively impacting the student experience

Create an environment where people are motivated and empowered to deliver on the University’s vision

Communicate how our work connects with the University mission

Demonstrate a commitment to growth mindset with a willingness to see and implement different approaches

Deliver open, honest, direct and respectful communication

Ensure self and team are adhering to University policies and practices

Serve as a Career representative in a cross-functional capacity when assigned 

Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:


Three or more years of leadership experience

Bachelor’s degree

Ability to receive and provide feedback

Ability to drive results

Ability to see multiple perspectives when assessing situations

Strong technological skills

Equivalent of experience in lieu of degree acceptable

Preferred Qualifications:


Master’s Degree and 3 - 5+ years of leadership experience in a professional setting including:

Strong customer service background

Higher education, career advising/counseling, employer development, admissions, sales

Experience managing or leading a team toward goal achievement

Working Conditions:


Attendance, punctuality, reliability and onsite presence are essential functions of this role

Assist with commencement ceremonies and receptions
