The YWCA is seeking a Director of Community Housing who is directly responsible for overseeing the management, administration, and development of YWCA Housing Program. This position will provide strategic direction ensuring that all aspects of the Housing Program are highly effective, efficiently delivered, and responsive to client and community needs. The Director is responsible for the overall planning, administration, and management of the YWCA’s Housing Programs including Interfaith Hospitality House, Transitional Permanent, and Mainstream Housing, Family Resource Center and YWoodlawn.
Oversee all YWCA housing operations and ensure consistency with applicable funding regulations, operational protocols and best management practices.
Assist the VP of Empowerment Services in creating a high-level roadmap, preparing a plan that identifies outcomes, and aligns the program with overall strategic objectives related to the YWCA’s mission.
Serve as Executive Director of the YWCA’s Community Housing Development Organization [CHDO], while ensuring the viability of the CHDO’s certification status.
Represent the YWCA by providing advocacy and public education to the community through public speaking and personal contacts.
In collaboration with the Grants Controller, develop financial and non-financial support including, but not limited to, creating a sustainability plan, identifying potential sources of funds.
Analyze key outcomes based on findings to improve program quality.
Oversee Housing intake; public safety; resident services and other programs and services to ensure the efficiency of operations.
Continuously monitor and evaluate the efficiency and effectiveness of service and delivery methods and procedures; identifies opportunities for improvement and directs the implementation of change.
Ensure that all provided services and activities conducted through the Housing Program are in alignment with the mission, strategic vision, and goals of the YWCA Central Alabama.
Provide compassionate, empowering assistance to all residents in a manner that prepares them to achieve the very best in their tenancy; both directly through personal interaction and indirectly through supervised housing staff.
Assess community and client needs and develop programs and services emerging from those assessments.,
Leverage assets and position the program as a catalyst to strengthen the community.
Assist in engaging a wide variety of community partners to help bring holistic and integrated services to our clients.
Participate in networks and partnerships in order to gain knowledge of trends, policies, and future developments that are relevant to the organization.
Represent the YWCA in collaborations and coalitions that further the mission of the YWCA as appropriate.

Required Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree in Housing Management and Policy, Business, Real Estate Management, Planning, Law, Public Administration or any related field; Master’s Degree preferred.
Five or more years of related experience in housing.
Experience working with any of the following programs: HUD, ESG, CDGB, HOME, LITHC, and Supportive Housing Program funding.
Three years of progressive supervisory experience.
Must meet eligibility requirements (child abuse and neglect) clearance through the Alabama Department of Human Resources and background check.
Valid Alabama driver’s license, automobile insurance and suitable driving record if applicable to job function.
