The Director of Data Analytics & Reporting will work to develop and refine strategies and tools to measure and document the work of Covenant House International (CHI) and its network of 31 sites in six countries. The Director will lead CHI’s internal data analytics and reporting efforts, helping Covenant House to more effectively document our reach, services, and impact, facilitate efforts to use data as a learning and management tool, and, most importantly, to optimize our opportunities to enhance positive outcomes for the young people we serve.

With the goal of continuing to move our international agency toward a culture of program excellence, using normative data to inform best practices and improve outcomes, this position is responsible for:

Designing and producing a series of data reports, performance dashboards and data visualizations for CHI, Covenant House sites, and the CHI Board in order to:

Enable the systematic utilization of site data for performance monitoring and management

Inform decision-making

Facilitate quality improvement and capacity building initiatives

Identify best practices

Drive outcomes for the young people we serve

Document CHI’s and site’s reach and impact

Support Development team with content and data for fundraising proposals

Developing publications, presentations, infographics, briefs, etc.

The Director will be an expert in data systems, analysis and reporting and will have experience utilizing these skills in a nonprofit, government or human services setting. The Director will need to develop effective working relationships with members of the CHI Senior Leadership, Site Liaison, Child and Youth Protection, Finance, Development, and Human Resources teams to cull, analyze and report on data from multiple systems and platforms.

Principal Responsibilities: 

Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Design and produce strategic data reports

Design and produce a series of data reports, performance dashboards and data visualizations for CHI, sites, and the CHI Board, including quarterly and annual KPI reports that analyze client demographics, program census and utilization, client outcomes, critical incidents, and other program data collected in a network-wide Efforts-to-Outcomes (ETO) data management platform

Collaborate with CHI department leads and staff to extract data from the systems and platforms employed by the Finance (e.g., Lawson), Development (e.g., Team Approach, Raiser’s Edge) and Human Resources teams, as well as from ETO, to generate quarterly reports and dashboards on a range of KPIs

Analyze available data to facilitate the identification of strengths, best practices and innovations and to assess the efficacy of various models of programs, services, and practices

Assist the SVP of Research, Evaluation & Learning with quarterly data meetings with sites as needed to monitor and reinforce data timeliness and accuracy

Attend and produce materials/reports for internal site and data review meetings

Assist with report production for ED/ND and Program Leadership retreats

Development of publications, presentations, infographics, and briefs

In collaboration with site leadership, CHI Site Liaisons and external funding and research partners, collaborate on research activities to document and/or advance understanding of:

Covenant House models of programs, services, and practices

The needs of young people experiencing homelessness and human trafficking

Evidence-based, best-practice models of programs, services, and practices for serving runaway and homeless youth

Collaborate on the production and dissemination of publications, presentations, research resources and briefing/white papers designed to inform the CHI community, the homeless and trafficked youth services field, and policy makers

Help create and facilitate shared learning opportunities among leadership from all Covenant House programs through national and/or regional forums and internal documentation and dissemination efforts

Other Duties

Keep apprised of news and research coming out of the youth development, workforce development, equity, runaway and homeless youth, trafficking, mental health, affordable/subsidized housing and homeless services sectors as well as on best practices in data management and analysis and program performance

Conduct research on topics as requested

Participate in team and divisional meetings

Occasional travel as needed

Other duties as assigned


Master’s Degree in relevant field required

Five+ years of experience in program evaluation, program management, and/or data analysis in a government, human services organization, preferably child/youth services 

Knowledge and skill in data management, data analysis, development of statistical data reports, and data visualization

Experience with SPSS or other statistical software preferred

Experience with ETO and Tableau preferred

High-level quantitative research and data analysis skills

Exceptional Excel and PowerPoint skills required

Strong analytic, problem-solving and critical thinking skills

Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail

Strong capacity to multi-task, independently manage competing priorities and meet deadlines

Self-starter with ability to succeed independently and as a part of a team

Exceptional collaborator and communicator, in both written and verbal form

Ability to work well with all levels of management and employees

Bilingual (Spanish) a plus
